Shouldn't we get a brief preview of this "new area" that is about to be explored in the Prologue or do you think the brief pre-chapter writings about the Eastern Wastelands in RG did that?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I WIN AGAIN, LEWS THERIN!
Normally the prologue's are a bit vague, showing something that doesn't quite get clear before you're somewhat into the story.
So I doubt it would be related to the Letherii or Malazan. But of course, if KCCM is a story thread through the whole book, that would be cool.
I remember when I read the RG prologue, and Killy is stomping through the wasteland of KE/Lether, The description of her bulk and skin made me think she was a KCCM Matron

For this you must produce the prologue within a time period of 48 hours or unspeakable things will begin happening to you.

I didn't fall for it this year apt! Knew it was to early for the prologue funny how many ppl you can catch out with it.
I hope this prologue has some obscure data or reference to the wastelands east of lether. As SE said we would be in lands we hadn't visited before !

Ooooh... are we back to doing this?
All prologue threads follow what I will call (ahem) Skywalker's Five Stages of Prologue-ranting:
Stage 1: Mocking - Some dick (yes, I'm looking at you APTORIAN) posts faux-prologue threads
Stage 2: Movement - Groundswell/ public petitions/ nods at the mods to get us the prologue
Stage 3: News - mod posts one-liner about having written to SE/ publisher/ etc.
Stage 4: Anger - several other dicks, well, are themselves and *express* impatience. This is answered in kind by mods. There are heroes on both sides, evil is everywhere.
Stage 5: Redemption - finally, when no one is expecting it, and after a truly GRRM-esque delay, the prologue becomes available.
After stage five, we quickly switch to speculation, querying and impatience on the release date... then the postal delivery (with Abyss throwing DHL hissy-fits from time to time) etc. but those are different models I haven't quantized and structured yet.
bottomline - wake me up when we get to stage 5 someone...

Yes, it was... for me te high point was when Hetan went ballistic and brought her not insignificant wrath to bear on some poor dude. Proved to me she earned her barghast avatar.

Moi? Ballistic? are you sure?
I must have been very unhappy if that's the case
I will be sending an "May we have a prologue email".
I am not sure we will get one - Steve and publishers are being very cagey about this one. But I will do my best.
And please could members refrain from swearing in this thread?
I realise Apt has stirred you all up, but I would be grateful if you could confine your more excessive comments to pm, particularly if you want to call him out as being female genitalia

Ah. The Great Game of Malazan Prologues is afoot!
I remember last year, Hetan. People were getting all sulky and childish, claiming they deserved the prologues and the publishers were stoopid for not giving us them. Then you descended in all your admin glory and smoth them into silence. It was a great day

What about male genitalia? We could just refer to him as 'Richard' from now on...

Richard does raise a valid point that we're around that time, but really, if you look back thru the years, there hasn't been any hardfast rule about when the prologue shows up. Hetan graciously inquires and sooner or later, usually around whenever the previous book is being pub'd in mmpb (i imagine not a coincidence since the next book prologue is usually included in the previous book's mmpb), we get it.
To the extent we can believe it (ie: not) amazon.uk has the TtH mmpb at April 2009, so i'd expect we'll get the prologue somewhere around then when the nice kind generous handsome attractive and oh SO sexy publisher peoples give it to us.

Wow, I just realized Apt was a mod and Abyss a super mod? Nice lazers btw byssy... I did miss out on alot whilst saving humanity
craziness... any way, the book comes ot shortly no? Im sure there will be a proluge to have in no time... though I remember the tth prologue confused everyone to no end... If i remember right old Optimus(xander) was the first to post/read it, alot of people quickly followed... tis was a good day and there may or may not have been tax payer money wasted on printing said pages... but I digress...
Hetan have I told you how much I love you lately.... because i do

It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.
