Do you frequent the Art Board ? If so, you'll be very familiar with the spectacular art both, Dolmen and Corporal Nobbs come up with.
Recently, Dolmen posted a new image which got us talking about how he is amazing at depicting movement and we established that CN is his counter part when it comes to depicting sombre/still scenes. Well, I have been talking them into doing a collaboration and this is where you come in.
The two artists are looking for ideas. Scenes from the books which have both, movement as well as a sombre/still aspect. Can you think of some?

This requires some thought, but of the top of my head, Itkovian and the Imass, while Gruntle and the Grey Swords charge the K'chain Chemalle in MoI
I don't know if this can done, but Kallor stabbing Whiskeyjack while Korlat stares in shock
From GotM as Rake and the Andii mage assassins swoop down Pearl tells QB he is going to die.
The huge Soletaken bear (forgot his name) is taken by the Azath and Icarium and Mappo are distressed DG.

with Karsa watching in awe.
Tatts early in SH game: Hmm, so if I'm liberal I should have voted Nein to make sure I'm president? I'm not that selfish
Tatts later in SAME game: I'm going to be a corrupt official. I have turned from my liberal ways, and now will vote against the pesky liberals. Viva la Fascism.
When Venge's turn comes, he will get a yes from Mess, Dolmen, Nevyn and Venge but a no from the 3 fascists and me. **** with my Government, and i'll **** with yours

Ooooohhhh.... I like the 'Ruthan marching into the naruk all iced out like a glass of tea' idea.
That scene has so many different factions... the Nah'ruk and Ruthan of course but at the same time, Keneb riding after him, the soldiers in the trench putting their heads above the trenches and some not getting them down again fast enough. That moment when everything seems to be happening all at once, but at the same time, there are a lot of soldiers who are keeping still, waiting for their orders....
Yes, that's definitely a scene of epic proportions!

There's some really interesting stuff in TTH when Hood materializes and goes for a little jaunt and people just start dying in all sorts of ways around him. Plenty of movement potential there, and you know, death and somber stuff too.

Thanks for the suggestions!
This scene sorta exists (minus the Karsa):
http://slaine69.devi...%2F4271211&qo=8
http://malazan-art-g...2F2847975&qo=30
We can still do it, just saying its covered ground and props to Grim and Slaine/Onrack.
(for the record, yes it was at a time when several of us hadn't picked up on Traveller being Dal Honese. Ah youth.)
There are several others already attempted by other artists but as we want to give it a go from a unique perspective I Don't see much problem tackling any of the scenes mentioned above.
(Save the few CN's already done or working on.) The only scene I'm still scratching my head over is Draconus re-entering Wu. Thats still on the cards. Just distant...very very distant.
Thanks for the ideas though!
Personally I'm leaning towards:
Spinnock's speech at Lightfall
The last rush of the Seguleh as the Moranth drop the munitions
Silchas Ruin being stabbed in the back by Scabandari Bloodeye, with the Tiste Edur massacre of the Tiste Andii in the background
That last one especially since further on you read how the two meet again. So much feels bro . Possibly a scene worth adding to the list.

Ah yes...Hoods patented Deathwalk. Morbid as hell. You're taking Somber right up to 11 Dadding. You'll be quotin Hamlet next.

Hey now, to be fair, Hood spares the life of that guard with heart problems to start the whole thing out. That's pretty hopeful and non-somber. Don't see Shakespeare doing that in Macbeth now do you?

Yea i love this idea, i feel like it gets forgotten in the mix of so many powerful moments. The malazans reaction is strong.
