I didn't notice that the latest episode (aside from featuring both Canadian director David Cronenberg and THE MUMMY's Oded Fehr in Starfleet roles) had lovely tribute to the fact that the actor who played Nog on DS9 (who died last year at the age of 50) in that one of the new Federation ships that passed Disco while they were all geeking out about the new stuff, was the U.S.S. Nog.

    A simple and lovely tribute.

I believe that it is an Eisenberg class ship to further the tribute.

Always has been. An unfortunate side effect of the state media being owned by right-wing corporatists with ties to the ruling class.

    Where are you Kane

The Brotherhood needs you now more than ever

Just wait until they succeed in destroying the BBC.

I had to wear my reading glasses to the supermarket today for the first time. I've been getting headaches and I'm just getting old damnit. First time wearing a face mask and glasses. Glasses came off about 5 steps into the shop. What the hell are you supposed to do to stop the damn things steaming up? Do people with glasses just not go into indoor public places anymore or what?!

I have used surgical tape to tape the top of the mask to my nose - effective but a pain to take off.

I have purchased a mask that was recommended for those with glasses with a stronger wire to better shape to the nose and face - not as good as the tape but just about okay.

I now tend to wear an older pair of glasses that has a tighter fit to the nose. I can wear these further down my nose without them falling off and so further away from the mask line on the nose. This works well.

On another note, polling continues to suggest that support for Scottish independence has risen and this is likely to start really coming to a head come the elections in May.

I think I would vote for independence for Northern England or to join an independent Scotland after the way Greater Manchester has been treated. Wouldn't have considered it before.

However, what I meant was that in TOS he is a criminal and generally up to no good but he isn't a cold blooded murderer. His rap sheet in TOS suggests a history of dealing in stolen goods and counterfeit money.

Here's Rainn Wilson talking about Mudd and why DISCO darkens his portrayal from what we know.

Harry Mudd as he was in TOS doesn't fit on DISCO during a war...the things he did on TOS means that he probably really would have been how DISCO portrays him...you just didn't see it because the TOS episodes are played for laughs. But the guy that he was ABSOLUTELY could be a sociopath, we just didn't see it in TOS.

I think it's an organic character deepening myself, and Rainn is BRILLIANT.

Lastly, does Mudd, of all people, need to be untouched? He was on like 3 episodes of TOS, it's not like he's sacrosanct as a character to need an exacting portrayal as the fop they played him as on TOS.

I personally found it jarring which impacts my enjoyment of episodes. Other opinions, obviously, are available. For me, it is the wrong order. The light hearted scoundrel turns into a cold blooded killer I can accept. With Discovery being earlier, the change goes in reverse.

My take of Discovery so far:

Season 1 - good overall story which jarred with things like Mudd, the Klingon changes, etc
Season 2 - didn't like the story though Pike's portrayal was good. Felt Section 31 was too well known in the Federation rather than the secret they were portrayed as previously. Nimoy has spoiled for me any other actor being Spock.
Season 3 - only seen episode 1 - thought it was the best episode so far. Hopeful for the rest of it.
