TBH Hell's Paradise got marketed as 'for fans of Chains Boy' and that was mid to the point that I was put off of it on that basis alone, add to that the uninspiring key art (which is normally what suckers me in) and I swerved it. The story synopsis makes it sound like Drifters meets Lost, and I don't like either of those.

I am also at full saturation already so no space for any extra shows really.

I'll be honest Drifters was a hard pass for me aswell. This might be a little less that and a bit more like the old school ninja scrolls movies from the late 90's. As close as one could get without adopting some very dated ideals on "heroism".

I'm watching it with the wife and we love the narration, its suprisingly subtle how they've choosen to characterize Gabimaru. His executioners a bit one note at the moment but i'm picking up an "unusual" but interesting dynamic between the two very human professional killers.

I've opted to get the wife in on Demon Slayer. We watched the first 3 episodes today and she seems to love it. Castlevania has proven an excellent gateway into anime.

not really sure where to ask, but you nerds seem to be talking DnD here.
so I've been signed up to do my first campaign (outside of BG or IWD) of actual DnD. Have the rule book in PDF on phone and on laptop, but would like the book in my hand as well. It's expensive, I remember getting the rule book free with BG. Now its £30 for a hardback, and all second hand ones are half that, but postage bring it back up to new value. Nothing on WoB, and amazon second (sorry guys) is the half price double postage deal.

Any other sources for UK to get second hand or cheap copies of the book? can only find hardback online as well

Perhaps you could try Ebay? I know the postage issue was a concern but the prices I see there are £25.00-£10.00. Starter set is at £12.00 and players handbook at £17.30...

Edit: These are prices for pre-owned copies

a few more from my list:

The Megumin Anime: more Konosuba, if you like that you'll like this
KamiKatsu: Interesting premise, looks like it'll probably be a bit wacky.
Magus Bride S2: see first entry
Yuri Is My Job: Sadly not about betraying Russia and going rogue with mind control, but rather about a themed maid cafe. Seems aight.
Dr Stone S3: see first entry
Legendary Hero is Dead: Interesting take on the bog standard fantasy hero trope. Likely to be bad but we'll see.
Too Cute Crisis: Literally anime of the millennium, fuck you if you don't agree
OHK Sister: Isekai garbage, my favourite.
    Tonikawa S2: see first entry
Cafe Terrace: Sort of like Quintuplets but it's an idol cafe. Has some promise.
Otaku Elf: Comfy slice of life, sort of Bocchi vibes but no guitar.

You're not watching Hell's Paradise AKA Jigokuraku?

I mean this may be one of my favorite anime premises ever:

    Quote

Gabimaru the Hollow, a ninja of Iwagakure Village known for being cold and emotionless, was set up by his fellow ninja and is now on death row. Tired of killing and betrayal, he wants to die. However, no method of execution works on him because as much as the seemingly apathetic Gabimaru refuses to admit it, he does have a reason to live. He wants to return to his wife, who was the reason why he softened up and failed to be an effective assassin. Thus, he refuses to die. Asaemon the Decapitator, a famous executioner, sees this and has a proposal for the ninja. She wants Gabimaru to join an expedition to an island south of Japan in search of the elixir of life in exchange for a full pardon by the Shogunate. However, this island isn't a normal island: it's believed to be Paradise. However the island is full of mysteries, and the exploring team—consisting of those marked for death—might not be fully prepared to handle them.

The animation is top-notch and the characterisation is damn near perfect.

Darkest Dungeon seems brutally unfair but my guitarist had a particularly good outlook on it - it's the essential D&D experience where a bad dice roll for you can make all the difference in an encounter. Approaching it like that made any bad situations a lot more tolerable.

Also if you position your occultist in the back I will frown at you, we stan frontline occultist round these parts. Actually, one comp I've used to smack on bosses that need backline damage is 3 crusaders and then an occultist up front - holy lance dance is surprisingly good at destroying stuff, especially in the Ruins / the Hag, and the best bit is every party member has a heal spell to throw out as well.

Very good analogy there.I enjoy the fact no run is certain. Its a punishing game, strategies matter but luck is a factor aswell.

Well I think my strongest teams have been highwayman and shieldbreaker upfront with occultists in a fluid position depending on how the other two interplay.

I like to shift in Hellion, man-at-arms or Leper as a fourth for damage, defence and tankiness respectively but i'm always ready with a plague doctor if CC is more important or someone is having an existential crisis.

Just spent half an hour or so browsing through your pics. Great stuff.
If your muse strikes, the scene with Ganoes Paran and the dead hounds (GotM) would be great. I liked the character already, but that scene, that he could see the beauty in those beast, made me love him.
