Dragged spent and writhing as if behind some yoked beast
Borne of every sordid deed and every creaking gallows
Through parched fields grown fallow from the foul seeds you've sown
Now fertile within the cracks and sores of my atrophied daydreams
Drawn behind the dusty flanks of some sun-scorched beast
Yoked and laden and resentful, eyes afire with every mad injustice
Shackled cruelly to the sepulture of your perpetual sorrow
Towed bloated and steaming astride some crude cross
Fashioned from the lazy mallets of some sun-scorned and pale myopia
Through black thickets and brambles, through dark swamps and barren plains,
To the vast boneyard where you may finally ease off your burden
And join it there
With the hungry bottlenecks and the circling ravenous beaks
That will render you
Like wild winged priests
Unto the dirt from whence you came
