I think you'll like it (though I'm still miffed as to why you didn't like 4-6). There were a couple of weak moments in book 11, but overall, it was action-packed. Major plotlines that have been hanging around for a long time while other plots were given more attention are finally getting wrapped up, or at least moving in the right direction. It starts to become a bit more clear how things will go down in the end.

Eh, not so much. It sucks that they don't communicate, but you have to spread the ta'veren love around you know. Also, in Knife of Dreams, that color swirl thing starts to develop nicely. Rand has learned how to embrace it, Perrin quashed it ruthlessly because it distracted him from Faile, and Mat was just scared of it because he saw Rand and Min comforting each other. But I can see that connection being used to advantage in the last book. Yeah, it's a plot device. But it's a nifty one...

The only thing that really came close to pissing me off in Knife of Dreams....well, two things.

One, Aram. That was lame, just because I figured he'd do something important, and all he did was turn into an annoying bitch hound, and he died trying to kill Perrin. wtf. I know that RJ has a theme of rabid people in his books, and fanaticism, and he does some good things with that, but Aram was lame. Fortunately there wasn't really a great deal of actual plot time spent on him in the series. He was always just there in Perrin's scenery somewhere. I've been discussing WoT at two different websites for almost a year on this computer, and I just added "Aram" to my Firefox dictionary (and I'm OCD about that). That says something.

Two, Elayne. She pissed me off with her overconfidence via Min's viewing. She knew she would survive to have her kids, and as far as she was concerned, that meant everything was all rainbows. This is just the ultimate in stereotyping the idiotic stuff females supposedly all do when they're hormonal. Yeah, she caught some Black Ajah that they had been after since book 3, but a fuckload of people died for what essentially amounts to over-impulsiveness.

The rest of the book was pretty awesome.

Yeah Aram has always been a lame ass. The Faile escapade was disastrous for me as a reader. It was just TOO FUCKING LONG!!!!!!!! Mat is awesome and I never tire of reading him, even when he is sitting there just cussing it's awesome. He's by far RJ's strongest character.

I think Rand is his strongest character, as far as development goes. Mat is entertaining certainly, but Rand is entertaining to me in a very different way. I know people bitch about Rand's obsession with dead women, but that, along with his apparent submission to his harem, is just a symptom of a deeper problem that I find fascinating. Mat comes close to me, and Moiraine and Thom not far behind. It's a sharp drop after that group, but still some very (imo) likable characters at the next level.

I think they set an estimation for some time next year, but I'm not really all that worried about it. By all means, BS should take as long as he needs with it.
