Wu, Burn or Other?

I've heard a lot of debate on this issue, what should we call the world the books take place in? Personally, I don't really refer to it by name, or maybe I think of it as the "world". Do you insist on a name? If so which one and more importantly, why?

Wen I got onthis Forum, Wu was used a lot (dn't remember why), so I started using it. later, certain people (cough* Apt* cough*) started raising the issue and take offence to it.
So now I usually write it as Wu/Burn...
which I guess puts me in the "other"....

I call it "Burn" just because I like the way it sounds, plus it's the name of the Goddess that is supposedly the world's very flesh.

We call the world inside the KE warren Emurlahn,
we call the world inside the SD warren Starvald Demelain,
we call the world inside the Tellann warren a bunch of things, but sometimes we call it just 'Tellann'...
However,
There isn't much of a world that we've seen within Telas, Mockra, Meanas, Serc, etc. for us to have worlds called 'Teles' or 'D'riss', etc. As far as the more modern warrens go, we only see seperate worlds for Meanas, but it's a fragment of KE, and Hood's realm. There is also Tattersail's use of Thyr in GotM, but it's mostly a Path and not much of a World.
So, with all that precedence unloaded, I'd say that if we want to follow the convention for the other worlds we know of, we'd need a name for the Path of Magic associated with Burn and the world would be called that. That would quite possibly make the world called 'Tennes'. However, Burn's warren being potentially a very modern warren, there could be a wholly different convention for such...

"Wu" was used because it is the name of the world. However, it was never a serious name, that I know, and neither is it mentioned in any of the books, rather from an interview. I simply call int "the malazan world". That way everyone understands what you're talking about:)

SE refers and thinks as the world as Wu. That is enough for me.

NO!!!
it is a conjunction of Warren Universe and it was only a temp name for it when it was a role playing world or some such thing, it was never meant to be the serious novel name (as far as I know)
I vote for anything except for Wu (its so sissy sounding)

Why does it have to have a name? It feels somehow...artificial.
The World would be enough for me.

I use Wu because of this definition of 'wu' that I found on Googlez:
It somehow corresponds with my view of the Malazan world.
- Also, I suspect that 'Wu' was mentioned as the name of the world in the first place because it is a Chinese term for story and also for storyteller.
That being said, I don't actually 'call' it anything, since there's no official name. However I like to think of the malazan world as 'Wu'.
- Gem, is liking it.

Not-Being. Not synonymous with nothingness, wu is an immense void containing all potentialities. It is thus interdependent with yu, Being.

I don't mind. I have no problem referring to it as anything - both Wu and Burn work in their own ways. Gem's point is a good one. Burn would also make sense.
I don't have a name for it, I'll just call it the Malazan World.

Wu is stupid. Don't call it that.
If you need to give it a name, Malazaland is much better, no?
How about the Prime Material Plane?
Anyway, it doesn't have a name and we don't need to give it one, so not much to debate really.

Wu to me will always be the Chinese dynasty. It does sound slightly "sissy" but what are you going to do - others insist on using it.

just to annoy evryone, we could start calling KE 'Han', KG 'Wei', Omtose Phellack 'Shu', SD 'Yuan', Kaschan 'Jin', etc etc...

meh... inmy posts, I tend to be concise, hence I use tons of abreveiations (that's why we came up with all of them, no?), and sying "Malaz World" doesn't fit well in that. Hence I used "Wu" untill some ppl vocally voiced tehir dislike of it. them I switched to "Wu/Burn", b/c it's still more consice

Well doesn't matter much. Some will continue to call it Burn others Wu and some might even call it Realmofsnizzleassassins etc.
Except for the last we know what they are talking about so lets just embrace our differences and all sing together
