May as well have a seperate topic for specific discussion of the prologue, no? Many thanks to Hetan for getting it for us :p

Well there's a bizarrely unconnected set of scenes. I get the impression that this book is going to be deliciously chaotic. And Kruppe with a beard? Unattractive proposition at best.

The Dragnipur... situation seems to be coming to ahead, so hopefully plenty of Rake! Though as always these prologue snippets are mostly obtuse ond only show their true meaning once you've read the rest of the book.

So.. since I seem to be the only crazed insomniac, i guess I'll start this discussion

First off, I would like to express gratitude to Hetan on behalf of the entire forum for gettting us the prologue

now then..

The city of lost memories had me thinking of Iccy and his ritual, but of course that can't really be right.
The fact that ST, edgewalker, and I presume Hood? are involved echoes back to the bargain made in RG

Ditch, as a new character may be interesting, and I get a feeling we'll be getting a lot of info from Dragnipur itself this time

Apsalara being Dragnipured certainly answers the question of where she dissapeared too, although now I wonder, which "moon" exactly did she steal was it something like the Mappo-healing in tBH, or did she try to hijack the Moon's Spawn, or was it something else entirely?

Teblor--so, Karsa's kids are going out to find daddy??? wow, this should be interesting. my first though about the dog was that it's somehow connected to Dellum Thord. Either that, or it's Karsa's dog, looking for its master. Either way, I expect the girls will get some rough treatment once they meet the Nathii..

Kruppe + K'rul--this is odd. How is K'rul not involved in the war? (I'm assuming the war has to do with the Crippled God) BY him being the prize, I guess they mean the whole (K'rull's blood is the embodiment of all sorcery thing).

Anyways, lots of info for us to gnaw on, too bad we don't have any dates to go along with the fragments...

How can his children possibly be old enough? It certainly hasn't been seventy years ...

like I wrote before, I thnk that has to do with the whole "all sorceery is K'rul" thing... in a convo b/w Brood and Rake in MoI, there's mention that CG's freedom would mean the end of sorcery

I'm surprised by K'ruls sudden pacifism

Don't be so sure it is Hood. It's so obvious you'd wonder why SE wouldn't mention him by name....

Oh, and I kind of wonder if the two people talking at the beginning are the Trygalle trade people found dead in Bonehunters. I'm going to have to reread that scene ...

EDIT: Nevermind, the two dead in Bonehunters were both women. The mention of an approaching carriage made me think Trygalle.

I got the feeling they might be EG's that couldn't remember anything and had been there A LONG TIME...but then the whole "I was wealthy" thing ended that I guess.

Zomg....I nearly ASPLODED when i saw the prologue! Voice became squeaky, like it always does when I'm excited.

Lol @ Karsa's daughters... from when he screwed the Rathyd woman, I believe. Maybe there are offspring of Bairoth an Delum as well, since they had their share. I thought the god-touched dog was Bent.... yeah, right.

I fear that the Teblor may become the pawns of the CG, like the Letherii and Edur. :p I wonder though.... Karsa went back to his homeland. unless he he's lost, shouldn't he have returned to the Uryd?

At first, I thought the priest was Heboric... but no.

Ditch must be important... Rake wouldn't waste his sword on just some common rabble.

And Kruppe is at k'rul's bar! Yipee! That means Duiker, Baruk and BB's!

I can see it now.

An army of Segulah to defeat the Army of Teblor or vice versa.

We know the Segulah will play a more active role from the comments of the Segulah 2nd in BH. And we know the Teblor seem to be a little restless. We know Karsa wants to command an army of teblor.
The only problem in the equation is Karsa last being seen on Lether not Genebackis.

Maybe it will be in the last two books. But I can see that happening.

OH and Thanks to Hetan and SE for the Prologue and any others.

Karsa went through the portal right?

@Ain't it Just---I got that thought about the priest as well at first....

Ditch was a wizard of Pale who betrayed Rake...obviously he had some power

could well be, especially if the Tyrant is supposed to be returning to Darujhistan - we're all pretty sure he was Seguleh, right?

end of RG he is transported to the crippled god's wandering warren, and from there transported home. no problem.

As to Karsa's kids not being 70 - it is stated that they are not of age yet.

hmmm.. well, Karsa would supposedly go to the island where all the Tarthenals are chilling, worshipping Bugg... he'd collect them, and then finally have an army of his dreams to go back home with

and to be honest, I fail to see how stuff in Darujhistan would affect the Teblor, with a big chunk of Malazan Genabackis between them... Unless the two hit it simultaneously from north + south...

also, how many of the unbound are left? 3, right?
