So are we done with the Letharii for the remainder of the series, or will we get to catch up with Tehol and Bugg here and there?

It doesn't seem that there is much need to continue with those people, with the exception of what Tool might do...Thoughts?

Iirc, book 9 will be set on Lether.

Dont forget, there's the whole Iccy storyline to wrap up (I just cant believe he's really copped it), the fact thousands of Barghast have suddenly appeared, what happened to the hearts, where KArsa's off to, and so on, not to mention the KCCM popping up on the continent. I think it's unlikely SE would set up so much without returning to answer at least some of the stuff. Well, I hope anyway!

Yeah TT is right, book nine, Dust of Dreams will take place at least partially on the Lether continent.

It is looking like the last two books will have fairly large convergences taking place...one on at least Lether continent and the other on a as of yet unvisited part of Wu.

And yeah...we have to figure out what happened with:

1. Icarium--Is he dead? If not...where did he go?
2. Tehol and Bugg and the new Lether. What are their plans? Will they ally with Tavore and the Bonehunters, Perish and Barghast to fight KCCM?
3. Karsa--we think he went back to Genabackis but we won't know until we see him.
4. Silchas Ruin--What is next for him?

I could go on...but yeah..we are in NO way done with that area yet.

I can see all that involving the continent, but as to the Letharii themselves is where I am confused...Seeing how throughly they were beaten by the Malazans, how much help could they be in a battle of such a grand scale??? The only future I can see for them is a thurough ass kicking by Tool and the Barghast for killing Toc...

Well the Malazans could turn them into a decent fighting force...at the very least they could use the extra manpower.

Will the Barghast even stay behind? They've avenged the GS. But Tool will probably not let Toc's deadening stand... Hmmm.

The Barghast I can totally see ripping into some KCCM.

And Brys has more of a role to play.

I agree. There are many questions to be answered. I really hope Icarium is (not dead/making another appearance) in the series as that would be the most abrupt and pointless end to a character, yes even more than Redmask. At least his death has to have some significance.

5 dollars on Icarium coming back and being like "wtf happened mate?" and Mappo buddying up again.

BTW what happened to Mappo in RG? he kinda vanished.

There are some theories that he is travelling to Genabackis, not Lether. That's only one theory however.

And of course the Bonehunters. We know they still have a job to do somewhere in the east of Lether. I think the Edur still have a role to play in the story as well. Not to mention the number of powerful Gods and Ascendants on Lether that have yet to collide

All good points, but I can really see the Bonehunters grabbing up Brys and a handfull of capable Letharii and marching their asses outta there. Outside of some unforseen catastrophy hitting Lether I'd wager that we'll just get cameo appearances of Tehol and Bugg.

I'm convinced we'll hear more about the Redmask storyline too, it just all seems a bit...incomplete, and I dont think SE's the sort of author who would leave it all untied.

So what's everyones theory of who Redmask is? An unknown or did someone we love fall?

I recommend you search for the word Redmask or just go a couple of pages back in the RG forum.

This question has been asked and discussed a dozen times over.

EDIT:
maybe not so crazy KCCM /redmask theory:

Lether still has a lot of cleaning up to do.

I could see a little more on the Redmask story as well.

I'm just really curious if Mael is really going to only help Tehol and be his friend...or actually be pulled into the family squabbles of the Elder Gods. He seems adamant on not taking a larger role.

I hear from reliable quarters that Redmask is a cousin of Redmast, the famous Letherii explorer.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him say farewell to Tehol now that he's Emperor. He stuck by him more or less just for fun and to kill time, the fact that they became friends was just a coincidence. Now that there is some serious stuff going on I'd imagine him setting out.

I don't know- Bugg (Mael) has a reputation for distance and repudiation of the 'causes' of the world, especially those that affect his followers. He actively fights the influence of his worshippers on his power (I can't remember what page), and I think his reaction to Tehol's imprisonment is far more indicative of his motives. He throws down, hard.

Mael takes care of his friends, and damn the world.

But that's just what I got from it.

ehehehe.

There's definately plenty left to see in Lether, which now with Tehol as emperor should be able to find money again, enough money to fund an army/bonehunters I hope.

I think Tehol will get a minor plot line next time we visit the continent, there'll be a lot more info on the KCCM, we still have gods to meet and an Iccy to find, oh and Ganoes needs to beat down the errant ¬_¬
