Preordered it a few months ago and it was in the mail today *happyface*

Just got my signed copy of Courtney Schafer's The Tainted City in the mail today. Last year I won a signed copy of her first book; this year I won the second. Inside, it says:

Quote

To Chris- Luckiest man alive (at least when it comes to my giveaways! : ) )

;)

Also, tonight I did a quick shopping trip to Walmart...and randomly came across $5 hardcovers of Turn Coat and Changes. Score!
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I don't know if I've ever seen brand new Dresden hardcovers at Walmart, but today there was a hardcover clearance bin with 3 copies of each of both Turn Coat and Changes in there. Probably older stock they're clearing out; I saw a handful of copies of Paul Hoffman's Left Hand of God too, as well as some year-or-two-old urban fantasy covers I recognized.

It's a weird book section sometimes; I saw the MMPB of Dust of Dreams there last spring, but it remains the only Malazan book I've ever seen at a Walmart.

I saw Changes there too, but for some reason the foreword was written by Sarah Palin.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Bought second hand copies of CHANGES and GHOST STORY today so i can do a reread before the release of COLD DAYS. Can't wait for a new Dresden fix.

Also got myself a book on the "Fundamentals of Film-making" in preparation for a film course I might be doing. It's a good reference read whether i do the course or not.

Maybe this is old news to Gene Wolfe fans, but it seems they recently added a bunch of his older books for the Kindle. I picked up Peace, Fifth Head of Cerberus and There are Doors. And Tuesday I will be purchasing Forge of Darkness.

Just bough Shadow of the Wind, Shogun, The Breach, Ghost Country, and Deep Sky. Brother gave me a $25 amazon gift card for my birthday. It lasted less than twenty minutes.

Yeah, it takes place in the 1800's. Also, MOAR DISCWORLD indeed.

Just now picked up from Waterstones:

Hannu Rajaniemi: _The Fractal Prince_ -- sequel to his amazing debut _The Quantum Thief_
Daniel Abraham: _The King's Blood_ -- second in the "Dragon and Coin" series
Tad Williams: _The Dirty Streets of Heaven_
Pittacus Lore: _I Am Number Four_ and _The Power of Six_
Benedict Jacka: _Taken_

Very happy reading to come!

Oh no...you supported Publishing Master Of The Douchebags James Frey's company he created where he nabs young authors in schools and forces them into horrific contracts and push out work he makes all the money off of and they can't even use their name. (Pittacus Lore is a pen name of young folk who got screwed by him).

Here's a gander at the contract Frey made them sign (with the original story linked as well): http://nymag.com/dai...tract_from.html

After reading about this guy, I really want to fucking head kick him. Or rather have Cro Cop head kick him.

Oo-er. I had no clue about this. Do we know who the author of these specific books actually is?

Yeah, his name is Jobie Hughes. Since the girl did the exposé for New York Magazine, that got around the hush order that he was never to be allowed to reveal he was the actual author.

Seriously, Frey is just a reprehensible individual who deserves a dick punching every day.
