NEW CULTURE NOVEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bought The Hydrogen Sonata" by Iain M. Banks today. A new novel set in "the Culture" universe. Hadn't expected to see it yet, so that was a pleasant surprise.

HOW THE FUCK COME I'VE ONLY JUST HEARD ABOUT THIS?! AND WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE JUST AS I'VE STARTED A MBOTF RE-READ?! Shit...I've just seen the post above me as I'm typing.
MUST BUY NOW.
EDIT: Anyone read Stonemouth?
EDIT 2: I haven't read Transition either and now that I saw it mentioned, I really want to read The Crow Road again.
Well I have a shedload of amazon vouchers that I got for my birthday from the chaps at work. I think I'll put it to good use and buy Transition, and ToBaKB (how come crack'd pot trail and wurms of blearmouth are so difficult to get hold of?) and pre-order The Hydrogen Sonata and Blood and Bone.
I reckon my general reading plan will be to finish GoTM and then read new stuff and THEN go back to MBoTF reread, in case you were wondering.

The love I bear thee can afford no better term than this: thou art a villain.

Just went on a bit of a buying spree:
Pre-ordered Red Country by Abercrombie and Blood and Bone by Esselemont.
Then went on to by the Thrawn Trillogy by Timothy Zahn and The Many Deaths of the Black Company by Glenn Cook.
And yes I had to restrain myself from buying more.
Also, if anyone uses Goodreads feel free to add me My Goodreads Profile

My local Chapters is a place of utter desolation and dispair right now. I'm guessing I just missed a sale of some sort.
Wanted to pick up Prince of Thorns after all the forum buzz, but it wasn't there.
ended up grabbing Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive by William Gibson (to follow up on my recent Neuromancer read).
Then I realized I still haven't read Forge of Darkness , so I promptly grabbed that.
but, best of all, my father's coming back from Ukraine tonight, bringing me shiny, just-off-the-presses copies of Godsdoom II , volumes 1 and 2 by Nick Perumov. Super-stoked for this.

For the people who like cheap ebooks- Orbit is having a small sale for their anniversary. Info is Here. Of the 5, I've read and would recommend Weeks' The Black Prism and Corey's Leviathian Wakes (which also includes the full text of Abraham's The Dragon's Path). I just bought The Killing Moon and Feed to read later on. At $1.99 per, definitely some steals here, especially the 2 for 1 with Leviathian Wakes.

Three weeks travel left my carry-on luggage just a wee bit heavier...
FATED by B Jacka, after much uptalk here on the forum.
ILL WIND by Rachel Caine... a few people have talked up this 'Weather Warden' series so bk 1 at 2nd hand price was a given.
AGE OF ODIN by J Lovegrove - i've been eyeing his 'AGE OF' books for a while, so this was an easy grab.
THE BOOKMAN and THE GREAT GAME by Lavie Tidhar - i knew precisely nothing about these except that they're steampunk/new weird, but the covers drew my eyes and the firct couple of pages held my attention. I think they may be 1 and 3 of a trilo tho.. oopsie... but easily corrected.
METAL SKY by Jay Caselberg - because WYRMHOLE is sitting in my TRP and this sf/detective sequel looked even better.
And then i happened to sit down to coffee with a fellow by the name of Steven Erikson, so i also picked up...
CRACK'D POT TRAIL and his COLLECTED NOVELS.
- Abyss, ...whose TRP jumps a few more inches skyward...

Prepare thyself for "luscious abs" and other descriptions of hunky men the protagonist runs into...but yeah, a good series what I've read of it anyways.

A good series, though I've not finished the second book, the first book was decent, if meandering during the "gods" sections". The idea of polytheistic-god-based military factions is simply too cool a premise to screw up.

Must they be read in order? I thought each was standalone...

Indeed, I'm pretty sure they are standalone.
I'm just reading them in publishing order...which I think starts with the Egyptian one AGE OF RA

I'm having a bit of a Stephen King revisit.
I just read The Talisman, which I havnt read for years, and I now want to read Black House.. but I was wondering, do I need to read The Dark Tower series first, or doesn't it matter?

Not really. The finale is weird either way, just a slightly different kind of weird if you've read the DT stuff. I think that just knowing that the DT exists is context enough.

Two more lurking at the bottom of my suitcase...
A KISS BEFORE THE APOCALYPSE by Tom Sniegorski - read a short story (in one of those otherwise generally atrocious anthologies and somehow manage to include a Butcher Dresden story) and was intrigued enough to grab this, being the first Remy Chandler book.
WELL OF ASCENSION by Sanderson - because i have the first MISTBORN bk sitting in the TRP so why not the second?

Just bought Fairyland by Paul J. McAuley and The Orphan's Tales: In the Night Garden by Catherynne M. Valente. I think Fairyland is going to be my new bedside book. Anyone read this?

I haven't read the first or third one yet, but the third choice is the most stand-alone right? The Morgan is waiting for a capper, and the Abercrombie trilogy is complete but very much in the To Be Continued vein so you might want to wait to buy all three at once. I dunno...depends what you mind waiting for, but I've heard almost nothing but good things about all of them obv.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.
