InSideOut Coaching by Joe Ehrmann...because I saw this guy speak, and...WOW. What an inspirational guy.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

The Wizard Knight by Wolfe. I read the first two chapters of Shadow and Claw on the way home from work yesterday. Went and bought this right after work today. I think I'm in love with his writing.

I recently bought DeForest Kelley's biography 'From Sawdust to Stardust' from Book Depository but it has gone walkabouts so they are resending a second copy. I've been looking forward to readi.g it for some time now. Fingers-crossed it arrives soon!

Went to the used bookstore and picked up THE WISHSONG OF SHANNARA by Terry Brooks.
Saw the first four RIFTWAR books (MAGICIAN: APPRENTICE etc.) by Raymond Feist there and almost got those too, just for the hell of it. May go back and get them for a re-read.
Also saw some of Elizabeth Boyer's fantasy novels (WIZARD AND THE WARLORD, SWORD AND THE SATCHEL, THRALL AND THE DRAGON'S HEART) and was tempted to get those too. Those were like some of the first fantasy I read, back in the day.
Going to Half-Price Books is like a tapas restaurant in terms of spending. Those small plates are cheap, but they add up fast.

I haven't bought any new books in a little while, and I miss it! I am planning on buying "Snow Crash" the next time I go to Chapters, and I'm also debating adding Matt Ruff's "The Mirage" to the list. Come on payday, momma needs some new books to read.

Got Tigana by Guy Gavirel Kay and Shadow and Betrayal (Book one of the Long Prince) by Daniel Abraham.
Was going to get Cold Commands by Richard Morgan but I wasn't sure if I need to read The Steel Remains first.

Yeah, you definitely need to reed The Steel Remains first. The Cold Commands is the second book in the series and a lot of the action and context are given meaning by the first book which, without having read it, you'd be really lost.
I bought An Autumn War, though I had it on hold at the library, I always try and purchase really good books to display (to myself) in my office....er, nook, house?....whatever. This is one of those that I want my eyes to land on each day.

I won a giveaway lot at Justin Landon's blog, Staffer's Musings, and found a box of books waiting on my doorstep last night. I was one of three winners, and managed to snag my top two picks:
Heir of Novron by Michael J. Sullivan
Shadow Ops: Control Point by Myke Cole
Also in there were:
Wild Cards: Inside Straight by George R. R. Martin, et al
Archimedes' Claw by Theodore Morrison Homa
EVE: The Empyrean Age by Tony Gonzales
Dragon Age: The Stolen Throne by David Gaider
The Games (ARC) by Ted Kosmatka
The Sisterhood of Dune (ARC) by Brian Herbert & Kevin J. Anderson

You will defo enjoy the first two there...and let me know how Gaider's DRAGON AGE book is.
INSIDE STRAIGHT is like the 11th book in the series, I hope you've read the first ten.

I'll be honest: the Dragon Age book likely won't be anywhere near the top of the TBR pile.
As for Inside Straight, I was under the impression that it was the launching point for a new sequence of Wild Cards books, and thus a fine place to jump into the series.

Oh, aye it might be that. It does feature a new generation of Aces and Jokers I hear and so might be a decent place to pick things up. Though it might lack any previously established mythology explained fully.
I went back to the beginning since TOR is now re-releasing all the original volumes with new covers and added stories.

I think so. Getting to see the actual genesis of the events that created the Aces and Joker's and the immediate aftermath of those events was important to me. I've not finished the book, but I'm through about 3/4 of the stories in it and some of them are pretty darn good. I just felt that being entrenched in the world was important. Partially because I gave INSIDE STRAIGHT to my buddy for his bday a few years ago and he confessed to me about being a bit lost in it.

Just hit the used bookstore and I came away with The Dreaming Void (though I've yet to read Pandora's Star or Judas Unchained, but I will), the Hollowing (though I've yet to read Mythago Wood, but I will), Echo City (which is going to take the place of Viriconium as my bedside book), If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, and If You take a Mouse to the Movies (these two my daughter read within minutes of my having returned - she's going to be a hell of a reader).

I started Wild Cards with _Inside Straight_ and didn't have a problem with the story starting with a load of backstory that you don't get straightaway. I mean, come on, we read Malaz, right?
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.
