It has been proven beyond all reasonable doubt that the most powerful force on Wu is a bunch of messed-up Malazans with Moranth munitions.

Picked up the first 3 Bauchelin and Korbal Brooch novellas at Barnes and Noble today.

Got tired of waiting for them to come out together and forgot about it. Then today, there they were, just waiting to be picked up.

Also got Butchers Small Favor on sale for 5 bucks.Posted Image

I hit Half Price Books the other day, looking for a few Pern books for part of my wife's anniversary gift.

I also scored (for myself) some nice finds on $1 clearance rack:

Star Wars: Tempest by Troy Denning
Star Wars: Revelation by Karen Traviss
Heretic by Bernard Cornwell
The Briar King by Greg Keyes (in brand new condition, even)

I've actually read the first 3, but can anyone recommend the Kingdoms of Thorn and Bone series?

My mistake; I meant that of the 4 books I'd picked up, I'd read the first 3.

I've had no experience with Greg Keyes outside of a handful of Star Wars books; though I own the complete Age of Unreason series, and now the first KoTaB book, I've yet to read them.

I preferred The Age of Unreason series to the Kingdom of Thorne and Bone. TKOTB lost me about the 4th book.

I really enjoyed the first 3 of Thorne and Bone. Not to shabby.

But the fourth did absolutely less than nothing for me. Except for Aspar Whites (who is one of my favorite characters) storyline, the rest was blackchcjhchl. Which is bad.

Shogun is amazing. I've read it a few times. And actually, I'm currently reading Tai-Pan, the next book in Clavell's Asian Saga, and so far it is extremely good...

I hope so, I have been meaning to get my hands on it for many years but just never got around to it. Loved the TV series way back and Japanese culture always fascinated me. Heard mixed reviews for the rest of the series so I would welcome any opinions :D

Following some recommendations I picked up a few as follows:

1. Best Served Cold - Abercrombie
I liked this book, superbloody fights, intrigue as well, politics were thick, I'll def. get more
2. Mistborn - Sanderson
Next on my list
3.Man w/ Golden Torc - Simon R Green
Longtime reader of Green, his work is usually good stuff, but I haven't seen much mention of him on the forum
4. Dragon Never Sleeps - Glen Cook
Let's see if he can handle space action as well as Black Company!
5. Paths of the Dead - Brust
Read the series about Vlad, got this one for $1.25 I'll take my chances

Note: In the US, they want extra money for books by Bakker & G Kay - as soon as I find some at a reasonable price, I'm in.

Note#2: I've read half of Mistworld today and I think it's great, wish I had picked up sequels at the same time, gambling pays off!

HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

The Passage, I'm intrigued and have probably been affected by all the hype.

Hard - boiled wonderland and the end of the world, one of the best authors around. Positively surreal, a bit of thought generally required. Just a wonderfull author.

Didn't see if you mentioned his name; the author is Haruki Murakami. He is my favorite author, and Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World might be my favorite book.

Justin Cronin also wrote a book called The Passage and there's quite a bit of hype about that.

I probably should have snipped that part about The Passage. :)
