Umm, there's no set time when it took place in the timeline, but from what i gather it's at least 4 years before MOI, (well healthy dead takes place 4 years after blood follows), but its probably around a decade before... though thats just a guess, we'll probbly get mroe details in later books.

Non-fic:
'Barcelona' by Robert Hughes
'Medieval Warfare' by Maurice Keen
'Rocket Dreams' by Marina Benjamin

Fic:
'The Glass Key' by Dashiell Hammett
'The Knight' by Gene Wolfe
'The Wizard' by Gene Wolfe

All from the library of course. I decided to keep going with Wolfe after the not-so-great 'Book of the New Sun'...the main problem, as always the one I have with 1st-person writing, is that I get frustrated at a lack of 'the bigger picture'. But I'm liking 'The Knight' better so far, maybe because the language is also a little more accessible and I don't have to keep running to the dictionary. Fuligin? Tribadist?...

Bought a signed hardback copy of Woken Furies, and also some book that was Ottaker's book of the month, and was recommended by both Richard Morgan and China Mieville, so I'm hoping it'll be good.

Can't remember what it's called though Posted Image

edit: The Year of our War - Steph Swainson...

Well i didn't buy it today. In fact to be honest I did not actually get it today. But my neighbor dropped off my copy of Night of Knives. Problem is i am in the midst of three other books that I have gone past the point of no return and just want to finish because I hate unfinished books no matter how bad. Plus I am heading out to travel. So i will pack it, but I proably won't get to it until the end of this week at earliest.

Just picked up Jared Diamond's "Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies."

Despite the slightly pompous title, the book is actually very fascinating. It won a Pulitzer Prize for whatever that is worth.

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Got some goodies in the mail today:

First I got some hardcover of paperbacks I had, of both Punktown by Jeffrey Thomas, and The San Veneficio Canon by Michael Cisco. Both are fantastic IMHO, and are exceptional reads.

I also received Empress of Clouds by Diana Hignutt, Godforsaken by Steven Shresbury, and Defeated by SD McKee
