Every Dead Thing by John Connolly. Crime novel with a very dark supernatural flavour set on the US eastern seaboard. Strongly recommended.

That said I guess I should have pre-ordered Terry Brook's 'Straken'
I generally pre-order alot, living overseas, I try to get the books as timely as possible (not to mention it's cheaper).
Also I have a lot of interviews slated so I feel obligated to read as much work as possible fro man author as possible before doing so.

Well, replace bought with borrowed for my actions today...
...finally decided to check out all this brouhaha over Bakker and borrowed his "The Darkness that Comes Before". Pretty good so far, only about 60 pages in. Also picked up Lois McMaster Bujold's "Curse of Chalio" and Michael Chabon's renowned "Kavalier and Clay". I love Chabon's writing, its so smooth that I seem to be drinking rather than reading it.

Are these any good? I've been interested in both.
The One Kingdom is fairly dull, IMO. Russell is good at evoking mood in these but I just couldn't get interested in the characters. I prefer his Moontide and Magic Rise duology (World Without End and Sea Without a Shore). Try those if you haven't already.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Heh.. that's wierd.. I read through them and couldn't bring myself to finish the fourth in that series

Mehhh. No great shakes so far, although I've only read the first couple of books. Prattles on a bit too much, needs tighter editing. Inventive mind though, I'll grant, and vocabulary (not been running so much to the dictionary for ages).
