Went into Chapters, hoping to grab "Cursor's Fury" the 3rd Alera book.
it wasn't there, so instead i picked up
"The Departure"-1st book of Neal Asher's Non-Polity "Owners" series
as well as "Elantris" by Sanderson--because it's one of the few Cosmere books I haven't read yet (waiting for the second Stormlight to hit mmpb before purchasing).

All seven Dark Tower books and Wheel of Time books seven and eight. All in hardcover. A present to myself for working twenty hours of o.t. last week.

You forgot there are now 8 Dark Tower books!
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

I have started a new job, and my first paycheck is this week.
I've also got a $200 gift Visa as a going away gift at my old job.
So, for whatever reason, I've felt the need to buy lots of books.
For the longest time I've been absolutely fascinated by Michael Moorcock's "Eternal Champion" multiverse-spanning mega series. I've read bits and pieces of it over the years (quite a large chunk, actually), but I've never read it in any systematic matter. At the point when I gained the ability to do so (and found a handy reading order) the books wee out of print. And I missed out on White wolf/Orion re-publishing about 10 years ago.
well, it turns out, Gollancz is doing their "most definitive edition ever" and they've been at it since 2013 and are almost done.
So, from Book Depository, I've grabbed;
Von Bek
Eternal Champion
Hawkmoon: History of the Runestaff
Corum
Travelling to Utopia
The Nomad of Time
The Dancers from the End of Time
Tales from the End of Time
Didn't get into any of the Elric novels yet, and technically skipping one character- Kane of Old Mars (doesn't get released till 2015)
Also grabbed the second Ketty Jay book, because apparently, those are nearly out of print as well.
and then in Chapters online, I've grabbed
"Urth of the New Sun" by Gene Wolfe--because I've never read it, and I'd like to re-read Book of the New Sun at some point in the not too distant future
"Obsidian and Blood" by Aliette de Bodard-because getting this Angry Robot omnibus was a new years resolution
and "Dawn of Swords" by David Dalglish and Robert J Duperre--because the sequel is sitting in my local bookstore and it sounds interesting.
And tomorrow I'll probably go to the IBricka nd Mortar Indigo downtown Toronto, to pick up Alera 3, and whatever else catches my fancy...

Urth revisits so much from BotNS that I'd recommend rereading BotNS first before diving into Urth.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Yeah, Urth doesn't really stand alone at all. It seems essentially like a book written to make the more obscure aspects of BotNS a bit more accessible to the dim-dims among us who aren't completely up to speed with the myths and religious symbolism he was using. It's appreciated (though there are bits where I think it's too explicit in explaining things given that the obscurity of New Sun is half the fun) though not really necessary - but certainly if your memories of BotNS are vague, you're probably gonna find yourself totally lost reading Urth.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Well, yes. That's what I meant by saying i'm planning to re-read tBoNS. I was not going to read Urth untill after I've done that.

The Wine Dark Sea, by Patrick O'Brian.
I keep meaning to have a break from this amazing series to read something else, but each time I finish one it takes about 10 seconds thought before I just download the next one.
There's not a moment to be lost!

So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

Ended off the random buying spree:
"Cursor's Fury" (Alera no 3) by Jim Butcher
"Pandora's Star" by Peter F Hamilton- because istarted reading the "void" books before Commonwealth, and I want to rectify that
"Quantum Thief" by Hannu Rajaniemi--because I've heard nothing but good buzz about this one.

After hearing about it on a podcast, I pre-ordered Cary Elwes book AS YOU WISH: THE INCONCEIVABLE STORY OF THE MAKING OF THE PRINCESS BRIDE which sounds like a blast.
And while I was there pre-ordering, I also pre-ordered TRINITY by Conn Iggulden (the second book in his War OF The Roses series), as it comes out the same day.

I got THE DRAGONBONE CHAIR by Tad Williams at the used bookstore for $3.99.
Can anyone who's read the series tell me if I'm going to like it or not?

It isn't anything super new, so your hipster side is going to hate it.
Think of it as the precursor to Jordan's series (without the sexual fantasies)

Mmmmm, depends. Typical Williams - good at setting and mood, not so great in the let's-move-shit-along department.
Then you reach the end of the series, and...well...it's not the best payoff, let's just say that.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.
