So it was pay day, and I had to take a bus from Square One, so naturally, I wandered over to a Chapters....

Third World War must truly be upon us, since Chapters moved their Canadian release date for Malaz books forward . Last I checked, Assail was due to street on Aug 25th. Which is why I was going to order it through Book Depository.

Imagine my surprise, when it was there, staring at me from the shelf.

I saw it at two different Chapters in the TDot as well. Ontario...coming up in the world!

Oh and I actually picked up Book 1 of THE MONGOLIAD, as it sounds pretty damned good!

Found the original THIEVES' WORLD.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

On the 'i bought' front, in anticipation of the next film, Amazon had a sale on e-books of the entire SIN CITY series. Couldn't resist.

Noted. I have 1-12 sitting in a special side section of the TRPFH. I read 1 years and years ago and liked, but it didn't leave enough impression for me to make up my mind about restarting.

Picked up some cheap hardcovers of books 7-10 of the main series for about £2 each, not great condition but more sturdy than my paperbacks.

Also grabbed Gilden Fire by Stephen Donaldson, only about 90 odd pages long but looks good.

I finally got to spend a little bit of money on books, yay! Not buying hardcopies yet, though (English money, German money...) so no Assail or Prince of Fools, but rather pleased with:

The Widow's House by Daniel Abraham (can't wait to dig my claws into this)
Resistance by Samit Basu (the sequel to Turbulence)
Hidden by Benedict Jacka (technically a pre-order, but it comes out tomorrow so...)
Stand on Zanzibar by John Brunner
The Forge in the Forest by Michael Scott Rohan
Blindsight by Peter Watts (seems rude not to, since it's available free)
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Finally got around to reading the first of the Naomi Novik Temeraire books. Really enjoyed it.

Light, quick, easy to power through on the train - was ideal reading for a sh***y Monday.
meh. Link was dead :(

Ah, I totally misunderstood your post. Apologies.

Didn't want you to be without any volumes.

Yeah based on FIRST AND ONLY I resolved to buy the entire series as I found them, regardless of order. So I've had the later books for months. Now I can finally read to HONOUR GUARD. Hopefully I find that soon so I can read it and beyond. Great stuff, wish I'd found it sooner.

Finally got ASSAIL by Esslemont today. Looking forward to another malazan fix.

Also picked up, "GRAMMAR OF THE EDIT", which is a book breaking down the methodology involved in editing film scenes. Looks like a nice handy reference for what I would consider quite a "black art". Editing is one of those things that you can become technically proficient at, but there are so many variables involved, that some people just seem to have a more natural flair for it. I think i am likely more of an artisan than an artist in this regard, so simple tips and reminders are a good thing.

While there is no substitute for actually doing some filming, and then editing it. I like having well written reference books to look at for inspiration.
