picked up:

Stonewielder - Ian C Esslemont Tor TPB, yah, i know, I'm SUPER late, and here I call myself a Malazan fan, shame on me, :(

Caine Black Knife - Matthew W Stover, Del Rey TPB, picked up in advance, on an impulse, just missing Blade of Tyshalle and Caine's Law

Assassin's Apprentice
- Robin Hobb, bantam spectra mmpb, my 2nd try on women authors

I'm 100+ pg now on The Curse of Chalion, though not bad, but not so great, it's ok.. still Bujold is easy to read, may put it off in favor of Stonewielder, so I can finally order OST, FoD and Blood and Bone, lots of catching up on my Malazan, :(
It's not who I am underneath.. but what i do that defines me - Batman, Batman Begins; 'Without our deaths, sir, there would be no crime. Thus, no punishment to match,' 'Mortal Sword - '
'We are done, my friend. Now, in this manner, we choose the meaning of our deaths' - Mortal Sword Brukhalian to Veteran Nilbanas, siege of Capustan
'Ippen shinde miru (want to try dying this once) ?' - Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl)

Kinda, but there's a bit more physicality involved. It's pretty neat, actually.

Yes, it's my personal favorite of all Robin Hobb's series. It's written in third person/multiple POVs which differentiates it from her other work, and it weaves all of these different stories to some SE-level masterful convergences. Keep in mind it IS also part of the Fitz world and belongs there in the middle, btw. It's kinda like the Midnight Tides of that world.

Sounds promising enough, for the world was nothing wrong with, I just started to hate Fitz.. Shall keep it in mind the next time I need something to read. One last thing, is there any irritating joker/skald or whatever the albioguy was in it?

Liveship Traders is the only Hobb I've read so far, and it was fantastic.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Keep in mind that Fitz is the narrator of his books, is telling you a story in retrospect, and any negative view of him you have is colored by Fitz's own views of himself. If you wind up hating him at some points, perhaps that's how he wants you to feel about him. There's no criticism like self-criticism.

Cram it with walnuts, ugly! :(

Fixed. The second (Fool) series from Hobb about Fitz and Co. was excellent...just in a different way to the Assassin's Series!

Yah, I loved it. It has one of the most truly empathic finales I've ever read.

Yah I haven't read the Rain Wilds stuff yet. I think there's a fourth book coming out too though. I did read the Soldier Son trilogy this year, and while "enjoyed" isn't the appropriate word for how I felt about it, I thought it was a worthy read. Though definitely not an entry point to Hobb. Or necessarily even for anyone who already likes her other stuff. It was something...else, for sure.

Shitty. I couldn't even make it through the first book.

Today I bought the last 3 books in Jack Campbell's "Lost Fleet" series, the Valiant, the Relentless and the Victorious.

I was supposed to wait until after new years, but apparently I'm a weak-willed man!

The last three in the FIRST series - next you've got Lost Fleet: Beyond the Frontier ;)

Bought those yesterday...
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

She is APPARENTLY said to be returning to Buck Keep and the Coast to tell another set of stories involving Fitz and the Fool...

I'll read it.

Here's what Hobb had to say about it in September 2012:

Clearly, for some time, my publishers have wanted me to write a continuation
of the Fitz and Fool story . It was my hope to work on such a story slowly,
carefully and very privately. For years. Because if I do it badly or hastily,
I will have ended my career.

I'm going to avoid posting about this. I'm not going to reply to any queries
about it. Not because I'm trying to be a diva or an artiste, but because I
need to focus on writing, not talking about writing. I think I've posted here
before about what I see as the difference between Being a Writer and Writing.
I'm not going to Be a Writer about this. There will be no hints, page counts,
updates, teasers, or warnings that A Main Character Will Die! I know that many
other writers use things like that to build excitement and increase internet
chatter. But I don't. For me, writing is like working on a long complicated
math equation. If someone in the room is reciting phone numbers or saying the
times table out loud, everything gets scrambled. So I'm going to insulate myself.
