Yeah it's awesome when Amazon does that. I think I got Dust of Dreams and TCG hardcover for $10 each too.

Wheel of Time stuff is easy to find used too.. Value Village always has a few hardcovers for $5 each, and they're usually in pretty good condition too.

I'm worried about buying too many hardcovers though, because they're heavy as fuck and I'm gonna have to move eventually.

Some items get free shipping as a special discount. There's also the $25 super saver thing too. If you got a third book you'd probably hit that threshold.

Yah, if you reach $25 and it's all eligible items (which includes pretty much any book directly from amazon, rather than an individual seller of used books or whatever) then shipping is free. You have to make sure when checking out to choose FREE SUPER SAVER shipping, but it's right there with the other options not hidden.

Yeah, Amazon's super-saver shipping is great, it's saved me a lot of money/given me the incentive to buy more books over the years. The only real downside is that it can take forever for your package to get to you. It didn't used to be like this, as I used to get all of my free super-saver items through ground UPS, but in the last few years they've switched to Fedex Smartpost, which is about the most dirt-cheap service out there. As a result, my packages often start off on the east coast and make their way nearly to the west coast before turning around and arriving in the Midwest. It is free shipping, so I can't really complain that much, but whereas I used to get packages in 5 days or so now it takes 2-3 weeks.
uhm, that should be 'stuff.' My stiff is never nihilistic.

Took my Christmas money to Amazon and ordered Blood and Bone (screw it, I guess I'm not waiting for the Tor version after all); Jeff VanderMeer's massive anthology, The Weird; and Fantagraphics' The Complete Pogo, Volumes 1 & 2 boxed set.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Amazon shipping in Canada kicks ass. Usually takes about 6 business days to reach me (and I'm on the other side of the country from where they ship from) and it's free. And the UPS guys always bring the packages right to my door

That's weird. I live in the Midwest too, and still usually get stuff in 5 days or so. On rare occasions it will take them 5 days to ship it, but even then it arrives well before 2 weeks have passed.

For those of you not averse to MMPBs, another money-saving tip is to look for Amazon's 4-for-3 deals (i.e. 4 MMPBs for the price of 3).

Bought RED COUNTRY and COLD DAYS for my mom, SCARLET LETTER for my sister and B&B for myself. Like Ice Cube would say, today was a good day. Mostly because I wasn't shot in a gang drive-by.

"Summer Knight: The Dresden Files Book Four"
Butcher, Jim; Paperback; - Great Choice

1
"Last Argument Of Kings: The First Law: Book Three"
Abercrombie, Joe; Paperback; . - Great Choice

1
"The Revenge of Eli Monpress: An omnibus containing The Spirit War and Spirit's End"
Aaron, Rachel; Paperback; . - Good Choice - assume you've read the prior omnibus? very entertaining I found

1
"A Memory Of Light: Wheel of Time Book 14"
Jordan, Robert; Hardcover; - When this hits paperback I may return to WoT (swore off it after PoD / WH.......)

1
"Blood Rites: The Dresden Files Book Six"
Butcher, Jim; Paperback; . - Great Choice

1
"Death Masks: The Dresden Files Book Five"
Butcher, Jim; Paperback; . - Great Choice

1
"Low Town: The Straight Razor Cure: A Low Town Novel (Low Town 1)"
Polansky, Daniel; Paperback; - Average Choice - didn't find this to be that good. Trying to be a noir thriller in a fantasy setting. Unfortunately hits nearly every noir cliche ever as a result. Think it suffered in that i'd recently read the (to me) - far superior Among Thieves by Douglas Hulick.

1
"Blood and Bone: A Novel of the Malazan Empire (Malazan Empire 5)"
Esslemont, Ian Cameron; Hardcover - Okay Choice - From a technical standpoint, its probably his best, but it lacks the punch of Stonewielder or RotCG (in my NSHO)

meh. Link was dead :(

Also picked up Glen Cook's An Empire Unacquainted With Defeat (man, I love his books' names!)

Today I bought the last 3 books in Jack Campbell's "Lost Fleet" series, the Valiant, the Relentless and the Victorious.

I was supposed to wait until after new years, but apparently I'm a weak-willed man!
Screw you all, and have a nice day!

The Gathering Storm from Amazon. I now own all the Wheel of Time books with the exception of the last one, which I'll probably be purchasing in a month or two once I finish the other ones. I also need to buy 6-8 in hardcover still.

I only bought if because of Among thieves, but if it just reaches the knees of AT I'll still enjoy myself.

Well, I went on a bit of a shopping spree/rampage today, and in the middle of all of it, I pre-ordered _A Memory Of Light_. Woo-hoo!
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.
