I was disappointed enough in Age of Ra that I haven't bothered to read any of the other Age of: books. Not that it was bad at all, but his Worldstorm is fucking fantastic and very different to anything else I've read.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

went to a Used/2nd hand Bookstore, and found this:
Lord Foul's Bane & The Wounded Land (del rey mmpb) - Stephen Donaldson, now I can start my read of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant
&
was surprised:
Gardens of the Moon - by the King, Steven Erikson, but the surprise is more that this book is a Bantam TPB circa 1999! I now consider this as a jewel among my Malazan & my other books,

i think it's more Paran & Tattersail than Whiskeyjack/Sorry

It's Generico and Generica, the twin gods of artists who haven't read the book.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Never heard of those. Those Gods were in different places so do they take place in dif times and locations or have they all got the same characters?
The blurbs at the end of "Ra" and "Zeuz" contradict each other--in both books, the respective Pantheon supposedly defeated all competition.
My guess is, they work as alternative history settings, rather than a complete story. there's 5 so far (Age of Voodoo is coming out soon), an there's also a collection of 3 stories called "Age of Godpunk", featuring Anansi, Satan, and Gaia.
From reading "age of Ra", Lovegrove seems more focused on a tight, character-driven narrative, than on a huge scope. Which makes the books easy reading.

I also got into Donaldson via the used book store: 5 out of the 6 Covenant books were on the clearance rack at Half Price Books for 50 cents each. I found the last book on the shelf for half price.
It's actually Half Price Books' fault that I'm even here: they got me hooked on Donaldson, who recommended Erikson...

I'm throughly enjoying This Book is Full of Spiders so far. Only 40 pages or so in, but it'll be a good travel home book.

Here you go. They're based in Texas, and have a relatively strong Midwest presence, though it looks like they're popping up on the West coast, too. There are seven in Minnesota, three of which I visit regularly. All books (barring collectibles) are half off the cover price, and the clearance racks have TPBs and HCs for $2-3 and MMPBs for $1-2.

I live about 3 miles from HPB headquarters. And yes it is heaven on earth.
One gripe - their Restrooms section didn't have any books about restrooms. What's up with that?

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Got New Spring, Winter's Heart, Knife of Dreams, and Towers of Midnight in hardcover for about $30 total. Just need Lord of Chaos, A Crown of Swords, The Path of Daggers, and The Gathering Storm (and of course A Memory of Light) and I'll have the entire series in hardcover. Still working my way through The Dragon Reborn, though, so it'll be at least a month or two before I'm reading the finale.

Where did you get the hardcovers for so cheap?

I keep an eye on Amazon. Sometimes Amazon will sell hardcovers for cheap (my Towers of Midnight was about $10), but often you can find other, highly-rated sellers selling the books for pretty cheap. I was able to get New Spring for just over a dollar, and Knife of Dreams/Winter's Heart for about nine dollars each. These generally turn out to be overstock/bargain copies, meaning they have a small black dot on the bottom/top, but this has never bothered me since it's not visible on a bookshelf and you barely can even see it while reading.
