well, I've ordered the lies of loke lamora, the thousandfold thought, that book by Priest, no present like time, that sci fi book as written by hitler, Silent willow sleeping woman (or something like that by Murakami) .. I prhophesize very little social interaction the next few weeks

Today I bought:
The Thousandfold Thought - By R. Scott Bakker. I could have sworn I already had this. But I went to read it today and could not find it anywhere. So I popped out and picked it up
The Lies Of Locke Lamora - Scott Lynch. I ordered this one, it's still not released in western australia yet, even thought the date for release was the 28th
And thats about it. I was looking for Tales of the Drenai volumes one through to three by Gemmell but couldn't find a place that sold them.

Hi all i have a question and this seems the right thread.
Should i diversify my reading. I only read MBOTF. Over and over again. They are so entertaining but someone sed i should read A song of ice and fire as this is the only work that doesnt signify a drop in quality from Eriksons work. Apparently there very good however should i buy them? I seek the thouths of the ppl who have read both these sets of books and would appreciate an opinionon which is better also

@ tiam - Personally, I think if you like Erikson, you will probably like A Song of Ice and Fire also. As for which one is better, I prefer MBotF, but that doesn't make it better, and indeed such a discussion probably has its own thread somewhere (and if it doens't, it should!)
As for diversifying your reading, there is ONLY one answer to such a question: an emphatic YES!

China Mieville
Dan Simmons
Pratchett (if you're after some good satire)
R. Scott Bakker (I havn't read his works, but judging from comments found here on the forum, he's a solid bet)

holy god, erikson is great and all, but there is so much out there to read, how could you possibly restrict yourself to just one author!!!

I just bought The Sword of Persia: Nader Shah, from Tribal Warrior to Conquering Tyrant.
It's good general, accessable history and we have so few English language histories of 18th century Iran.
Other than that, I'm trying to control myself with book purchases and plan to do a re-read of The Last Light of the Sun by Guy Gavriel Kay.

was anyone else severly dissapointed with "the prince of nothing" series. i thought it was very bad, like he just took the crusades, added wizards "non-men" and aliens. it didnt seem original and wasnt even entertaining.
