I rarely read German historical fiction these days, so I remedied that. I've read a number of books by Gablé; they're solidly researched and an easy read She moved to 10th century Germany after a series of books set during the War of the Roses and the Tudors. Die Herren der grünen Insel is sold as ASOIAF meets Gabaldon, set during the conquest of Ireland by Henry II, so it could be fun.
