Actually, Tuberski, the first two books in the dresden books are just "good". Okay but not really great. An easy read. Those two books feel the same.
It's by the third one the series breaks out and becomes awesome.

Finally pre-ordered Dust of Dreams on amazon.co.uk... while I was at it I also ordered Bakker's The Judging Eye paperback which doesn't seem to be available anywhere around here (in India).
It's nice to have three books lined up (Mysterious Flame of Queen Loana - Umberto Eco, Cryptonomicon - Neal Stephenson, and now The Judging Eye) to keep me busy until DoD comes out...
I don't have much time to read these days but if I can finish these three, I can stick to my plan of skimming BH, RG, and TtH once Amazon ships my DoD

I decided a bit ago that I need to re-collect the entire MBotF series in hardcover (in addition to my MMPB copies) and have since been checking eBay and AbeBooks for cheap (less than $7 shipped) deals. Today, my $4 hardcover of House of Chains arrived. As I feared immediately after placing my bid, it's the harder-to-find, smaller book club format. On the other hand, I absolutely love it, and I'm thinking I'm going to have to get the whole set in the smaller format. (I see an auction on eBay for the club editions of MoI/MT/RG for $20 shipped all together, but the MoI dust jacket has a huge tear down the front of it. Suck.)

May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I decided not to order Dust of Dreams through Amazon like I did TTH last year. I'll be able to find the book in various shops before Amazon delivers.

Stephen Baxter's The Time Ships. Read this ten years ago and it was excellent, his best book by miles.
Mary Gentle's Ash: A Secret History, which I've had recommended many times over the years.

Just purchased the SFBC-edition hardcovers of MoI, MT, and RG on eBay, and got the notice they'll be mailed out today. The MoI dust jacket has a tear right down the middle of it, but I couldn't pass it up for $15 shipped for all 3.

I bought a hardcover of MT today, since the last time I wanted to read this and that in MT my mmpb just fell apart. Well, well, MT is my most read of the books, so I definately need it in hardcover. Probably going to have to buy all other books in HC, too, else the other mmpbs are going to fall apart, too, which I don't want to happen O_o
on another note, other books I purchased last weekend:
edited by Umberto Eco - On Ugliness
edited by Umberto Eco - On Beauty [been wanting both for some time now, yay, and best thing is, I didn't have to pay myself ]
S. M. Peters - Whitechapel Gods
Neil Gaiman - Neverwhere [I've read this one already, but didn't own it till now]

Glenn Cook
Chronickles of the Black Company
I think its the first 3 books combined into one, quite large and heavy, should be heavy enough to kill a small child with.

Good buy! They're amazing - I bought them not very long ago. It is the first 3 books in an omnibus: The Black Company, Shadows Linger and The White Rose. It's very easy to see the influence on SE in Cook's writing.
On topic: Today I bought the first book in the Night Angel trilogy. Looks good. Haven't started it yet though.

I get jealous every time I hear of someone just starting out on The Black Company books. I look forwards to the day when I haven't read them for years and get to reread them having forgotten most of it!

Half Price Books' 20%-off Memorial Day sale started today, so I checked it out during lunch. Picked up a lot of stuff on recommendations I'd heard here. I passed up a lot of stuff, sadly, but did walk out with:
The Ten Thousand by Paul Kearney
In the Eye of Heaven by David Keck
Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson
The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
Crossing the Line and Matriarch by Karen Traviss
Keeper of Dreams by Orson Scott Card
and Shadows of Death by H. P. Lovecraft

Also yesterday: I hit up a different Half Price Books on my way home, and came away with the rest of Karen Traviss' Wess'har series: City of Pearl, The World Before, Ally, and Judge. Also, a couple of Star Wars books: Darth Bane: Rule of Two and Coruscant Nights: Patterns of Force. Oh, and A Feast For Crows.

To finish out the Half Price Books Memorial Day Sale, I visited the store by my house yesterday and came out with Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash and an 80-cent War and Peace. I almost grabbed the second and third books of Brent Weeks' trilogy (not to mention the TPB of Perdido Street Station that's been taunting me for a month) but figured I had spent enough on the weekend.

Today I bought the first Dresden book - people keep telling me apparently I don't know awesome until I've read Dresden, so I decided to give it a crack.
