Aha!!! Found it. Riga's little talk with Apsalar before Cot posesed her.
And wouldn't you know? A small bit I had forgotten about, Riga mentions Rake as the person who will "free her".

""Rigga's voice took on a droning cadence, and all at once the girl stiffened. Rigga, Riggalai the Seer, the wax-witch who trapped souls in candles and burned tbem. Souls devoured in flame- Rigga's words carried the chilling tone of prophecy. 'Mark this truth. I am the last to speak to you. You are the last to hear me. Thus are we linked, you and I, beyond all else.'
Rigga's fingers snagged tighter in the girl's hair 'Across the sea the Empress has driven her knife into virgin soil. The blood now comes in a tide and it'll sweep you under, child, if you're not careful. They'll put a sword in your hand, they'll give you a fine horse, and they'll send you 'across that sea. But a shadow will embrace your soul. Now, listen! Bury this deep! Rigga will preserve you because we are linked, you and I. But it is all I can do, understand? Look to the Lord spawned in Darkness; his is the hand that shall free you, though he'll know it not'""

Question is...what has happened to Rigga? And more interestingly, how does this effect the Tano song and Paran's blessing of the Bridgeburners?

Rigga lived on in Apsalar at least untill she got "de-posessed"... in DG she mentions soething along the lines of "Rigga shielded me from the memories that would cause me shock"...

I wonder how a House is actually removed?

Is it when all the members of said House die/go dormant etc?

Is there a limit to how many houses there are?

Anybody know?

about Rigga: she also had her soul inside Apsalar, together with Dancer and in that way protected Apsalar's own soul. Unfortunately in the proces Rigga exhausted her soul that much she actually got killed, but did preserve Apsalar's soul.

well, if we assume that there were other houses of Shadow, then, in htat particular case, the end would come twhen the masters of the Shadow realm lose their power/are displaced. I get a feeling Rake would know....

I wonder if a House can ever totally be removed?

I guess not...since you can't eliminate the element it is tied to...like there will always be Dark right?

That is until MD devours herself...thanks to the K'Chain :)

lol... You sure you're not thinking of Donaldson here?
at least I don't remember K'Chain being a fundamental part of Creation... that probably wouldève come up before

No I was referring to the claim (I think it is during RG) that someone claims that the K'Chain bound everything to time, thus ensuring the end of time and thus the end of all things....

Damn it...where is Abyss.

lol, here I'm afraid I'm gonna have to pull an apt: qoutes or it didn't happen.

something like that would be huge and would figure heavily into most discussions that deal with KC (and we've had a lot of those)..

It's in Midnight Tides; Fear Sengar explaining to his brothers the history of the Edur, etc in the crevice where Bloodeye died.

It is an interesting quote this mention of time bound to existence. If there's no passage of time how then can there be evolution? how does entropy turn into order and vice versa with out the possibilty of change?

It was called a deathspell. I think the time curse only reflects on MD herself, the rest of the world must have experienced normal passage of time before the KCCM cursed her.

I think this is the quote you are looking for.

MT, UK, mmpb, pg 139-140:

"Kaschan sorcery [...] is born of sounds our ears cannot hear, formed into words that loosen the bindings that hold all matter together, that hold it to the ground. Sounds that bend and stretch light, as a tidal inflow up the river is drawn apart at the moment of turning. [...] With this sorcery, they turned Darkness in upon itself with a hunger none who came too close could defy, an all-devouring hunger that fed first and foremost upon itself. [...] Thus was Mother Dark driven into the very core of the Abyss, witness to an endless swirl of light surrounding her - all that she would one day devour, until the last speck of matter vanishes into her. Annihilating Mother Dark. Thus the Kaschan, who are long dead, set upon Mother Dark a ritual that will end in her murder. When all Light is gone. When there is naught to cast a Shadow, and so Shadow too is doomed to die.

When Scabandari Bloodeye discovered what they had done, it was too late. The end, the
death of the Abyss, cannot be averted. The journey of all that exists repeats on every scale, brothers. From those realms too small for us to see, to the Abyss itself. The Kaschan locked all things into mortality, into relentless plunge towards extinction. […] Because of the Kaschan ritual, the eternal game among Dark, Light and Shadow would one day end. And with it, all existence.”
