And what does he do? He runs into a burning palace. With a half-dozen cussers on his back. Gods, he was right on one thing, though, the fire couldn't take him - he went in, and that's what's saved us... so far. Blew that storm back. Saved us...

It makes me wonder when SE and ICE come out with the Fabled Encyclopedia...whether we will get a full drawn out map of all the houses and maybe mentionings of past, failed Houses.

uh, okay, so where did Kulp get eaten by rats? When I heard it was Kulp who got eaten by rats I thought I made a mistake and that it was the divers that ate Kulp, but not Baudin... so, what rats ate Kulp? :s

Same rats. They meet Gryllen in the disguise of a 7C merchant friendly to Malazans despite the rebellion. Gryllen is "glamouring" them, trying to persuade Felisin to become his. A Soletaken bear (the one killed by one of the hounds I think) attacks Gryllens barriers and just a Kulp realises that all the insence is masking gryllens smell, the D'ivers attacks and devours Kulp. Heboric is trying to kill them one by one with his ghost hands and then Baudin comes in to distract Gryllen. I think Baudin has a conversation with Felisin (I'm not sure) and then he attacks the Di'vers again but I'm a bit fuzzy on the details.

Quote

The rats flowed over Kulp and swallowed him entirely in a seething cloak, not by the score but in the hundreds.
The mage's shriek was a dull muffle. A moment later the mound of creatures seemed to buckle, their weight crushing Kulp down.

The bear was Messremb who was one of Mappo Trell's friends and one of Treach's friends from the First Empire. He met his end after battling a Soletaken enkar'al and being pushed into the clutch of the Azath by Rood.

ah, yes, now I remember. I thought Kulp was lost from the ship, never to be seen afterwards :(
Ah well, guess we won't see Kulp back then ;) Not too bad... I like him, but just soso.

Truth dies because the Moranth munitions blow him sky high lol... I thought Baudin dided because he got half eaten by Gryllen, and then set alight...

the flames also hurt Baudin... that's what Baudin said just before he died iirc something in the lines of: 'I thought the flames couldn't hurt me...' (and because he said that you know he did get hurt by the flames). And because he's talking explicitly about the flames, I'm inclined to believe it wasn't really Gryllen at all who eventually killed him, but it were the flames...
Ah well, Baudin was cool... maybe a match to Kalam in affairs of assassinations?

That would be a good match...but as far as we know nobody matches Dancer right? Or does Apsalar now rival him in skill?

well, dancer is kind of a god now... I'd think only another god can match another god in skill really.

Apsalar is apparently now more than a match for Dancer...

The Bonehunters, on chapter 23, said:

'I watched, my dear. Your Shadow Dance. From the foot of Rampart Way and onward, I was witness.'
She said nothing.
Shadowthrone resumed. 'Not even Cotillion. Not even Cotillion.'
Still, Apsalar did not speak.

That quote proves nothing.

ST is referring to the annihalation she'd just performed. ST has never seen Cotillion unleash that kind of slughter. Therefore he says not even.

Aps is a clone of Cotillions power and talent, but she doesn't have all his experience. That is where the difference would lie.

Yeah what Apt said!

I refuse to think Apsalar is better than Cotillion in anything! lol

Cotillion is taller, stronger and possess' godhood, he makes Kalam balk in admiration, Apsalar has not done the same thing yet.

Apsalar is potentially quicker and she can use seduction techniques on males better than Cotillion.

But as an overall picture I would be very surprised if Cotillion wasn't better.

I don't think physics actually apply to ascendants as much as we'd like to think, not in the sense of build and weight anyway. Otherwise Apsaler would not had been able to kick half a ton of dog through a wall.

I don't think there's any difference in what Cot and Aps are capable of, I'd be willing to bet they are equally fast, strong, snappy on a dancefloor, etc. Cot has his experience to back him up but even that Aps has memories of. But they're fuzzy memories.

My money would still be on Cot.

I'm not quite convinced but I can see where you are coming from, your suggestion has merit.

I'm just not convinced that weight and height has such a small effect on ascendants, you've given what Apsalar is capable of (which dog was this?) but we haven't seen what Cotillion is capable of, he may be able to kick several tonnes of dog through a wall. It's too early to say. I always assumed Cotillion passed on his knowledge of assassination e.g. places to hit, techniques to use and of course an ascendant residue of power, but their bodily differences and Cotillion's whole memories give him a distinct advantage.

I think the dog he refers to is one of the Hounds in G'danisban...

Yup. She kicks one of them through a wall and then slices them up good while Quick or was it Paran? make their escape.

The funny bit is later when Cot comes in and the hounds are pissed because they think he did it.
