Found this snippet in the epilogue for GoTM (when Paran is leaving Finnest House after dumping his gold there):

Quote

"Paran almost stumbled over a decrepit, hooded figure sitting awkwardly on the edge of the gutter. A grimy hand lifted from the rags towards the Malazan..."

The beggar asks Paran for a coin, and then proposes going on a treasure hunt because he's heard the Darujhistan Rumor. But the interesting part is the parting remark:

Paran: "BTW, you probably shouldn't linger overlong at this particular gate. The House does not welcome strangers."
The old man seemed to shrink in on himself. His head twisted to one side. "No," he muttered from beneath his ragged hood, "not this House." Then he softly cackled. "But I know one that does…"

Shrugging at the beggar's obscure words, Paran turned once more and set off.
Behind him, the beggar broke into a wretched cough.

I did a short search for "beggar" in the GoTM forum but couldn't find anything so thought I'd raise the question

Skywalker, you threw me there for a minute, but you ment to post this in the MoI forum.

You've read the epilogue in MoI. The beggar is the artist from the beginning that made the deal with the CG. The treasure is the artists own gold, which he had to burry before he dragged himself to Darujistan.

Actually I'll notify the mods and have this moved.

There ya go moved, and yes as apt says, it's the beggar from the beginning of MOI, munug I believe.
