I still maintain that Ganoes's weakness is that he needs TIME to craft the card, from the powers we have been shown.

That is what I was getting at.

If he gets ambushed, or attacked by numerous people, does he have time to draw cards to defend himself? If he pulled hood to him, to defend him, would hood defend him, or would he just stand back and take Ganoes' soul when he dies?

You forget here that Ganoes does does have a certain canine form to call on if it comes to that.

Quote

A shrill scream, a flash of block motion, and PAran found himself engulfed in black, oily, smothering feathers. Hooked beak scored lashing pain along his temple, ripping down tot ake his ear - he felt the grisly snip, the spray of hot blood down onto his neck
Awareness fragmented to an explosion of bestial rage, rising within him-
Ten paces away, on h is knees - too battered to do more than simply watch - Quick Ben stared, disbelieving, as the two figures thrashed in battle. Paran was almost invisible within a writhing, shadow-woven Hound. Not a soletaken - not a veering. These are two creatures - man and beast - woven together... somehow. And the power behind it - it's Shadow. Kurald Emurlahn.
The Hound's massive jaws and finger-long canines ripped into the condor, chewing a path up the creature's shoulders towards the neck. The demon, in turn, tore again and again into the beast - its flanks ribboned and spurting all too real blood.
The earth shook beneath the two beasts. A wing shot up to hammer into a tree. Bone and wood snapped as one. The condor screamed.
The tree's broken base - knee-high - punched out and then down, pinning the flailing wing, then grinding through the limb as it toppled back, away from the two contestants, crashing in a storm of branches and bark.
Hound's jaws closed on condor's neck.
Vertebrae crunched.
The creature's head flopped back ot thud onto the churned forest floor.
The shadows of the triumphant Hound flickered - then the beast vanished.

Yes, but before we go starting crazy theories about Paran being a warren on to himself, it's the blood, hounds blood from the HoS killed by Rake in GotM.

Crazy theory - the CG is key to ending the entropy/"death of existence" spell that the KC Matrons wove.

That would be a pretty good reason to chain him instead of killing him.

Regarding Paran the Soletaken - It's important to note that Poleil, during her conversation with Ganoes, said that he was not a Soletaken. He's certainly got a link to the Hounds, and on at least one occasion has appeared to take on their form in a way.

But he is not a conventional Soletaken. It's not clear what he is.

I never said he was Soletaken, I was just pointing out that he does have more options than just the cards if he finds himself in a fight.Personally I think its a thank you gift form the Hounds he rescued from Dragnipur.

Wait a second, isn't this a thread about Tavore?

Fair enough. Sinisdar Toste said he was Soletaken, and that's certainly the impression you would walk away with after reading the thread. So I tried to set things straight.

Don't think so. It's from his contact with the blood of the dead Hounds, that pulled him into Dragnipur in the first place. He hadn't freed the Hounds yet when that happened.

And the other Hounds were still eager to kill Paran at the end of GotM, until they realised he had the blood of kin. I think that is literal, from when he touched the blood of Doan or Ganrod.

Dolorous Menhir is right, each thread has sub-flows...if you want to draw the thread back on topic, just refer back to the main flow and if anyone has anything else to comment or contest then we are back on topic.

Since when? There is surely an unwritten rule that the threads stay reasonably near to topic.

Oops I'm heading off the topic of Tavore.

People never stick to rules without the threat of fear, unless they are built that way.

The thing is, we will gradually get further and further away from the topic as we seek to explain certain things and there are always disagreements about sub-points to the topics. It's just something ingrained into us, and threads. I see no use in trying to be overly strict as long as the posts are constructive and not just spam.

I'm wondering if we will have to wait until DoD until we have a better insight into Tavore's character?

whats with all the abyss worshippers?

I don't care if threads go off-topic at all, unless, like cult said, they stay spamfree and at least generally relate back to the topic somehow earlier in the thread.

That would be wayy to hard to moderate anyways.

EDIT...and this thread is good cause it gave me a lot of insight into Tavore and Paran that I hadn't thought about before.

The problem is that Hetan has been absent lately, normally she'd be here to bash us all in line. The girl is not fond of spam.

It doesn't hurt to go of topic, often the topic/problem voiced in a thread will be solved quickly and other things or nuances will show up.

Like this discussion. I mean we were finished with the Tavore subject on page two, this is just spin.

I will repeat, I do wonder whether we'll have to wait until DoD to get more insight into Tavore's character?

Can anyone think of any viable and believable scenarios in TtH and RotCG where we'll get a chance to learn about Tavore and her plans?

For a start, I feel if Laseen is still on friendly terms with Tavore and they'd planned the scenario all along (which they probably didn't given the end of BH in general) then Laseen's downfall or the Malaz stuff could link into this. I think it's more likely to be in TtH though.

Well, no matter what, the Crimson Guard needs to get past Tay to get to the empress, I'd like to see what will happen then.

EDIT: Suddenly it hits me, maybe Rel and Dom appears in this book and dies horrible, bloody, grusome deaths *crosses fingers*

The CGrd, yes, but not someone else.

The Old guard might get there first, and who knows where Tay's loyalties would lie then, he's never been fond of Laseen and may see a replacement as a beneficial situation. Maybe it's Tay who is instigating this replacement scheme. Basically he's looking to get rid of Laseen, Dom and Rel and install some type of defence against the CGrd. Unbelievable, this could be.

Oh God, I hope so ;)

Tayschrenn's loyalties appear to lie with the Empire as an abstract concept, not with the Empress Laseen in particular.

It is very easy to believe he would stand aside and do nothing if he thought her fall would benefit the Empire. In fact, doing nothing is Tays' speciality.
