Even Karsa would notice when a great dirty dragon sits on him.
Flying Monkeys definitely win.

I've always wanted to ask that but I've never got around to it. I hope so, small things like that should be changed, other bigger mistakes are best left unless they tarnish the book quite a bit.

I think it was removed in the US edition. Not sure if it's been changed in the new "stupid covers" UK editions.

It's things like QB shouting stupid things before he casts spells, and other important things never coming up again, like Tool suppressing magic (that might be still valid, but he's never mentioned it again, much like the sword). Also a few people change personality, not least Tayschrenn.
The other GotM mistake SE mentions in interviews was a reference to "hell" by, I think, Fiddler. Although Hood's Realm is a close analogue, SE didn't mean to use the word since it is the wrong term for the Malazan system.

I don't think the personality changes are in any way significant. It adds to the feeling SE tries to get from the Malazan World, the idea of histories being portrayed in different ways dependant on the different events and times.
Notice how Tay, Laseen, Cot and Shadowthrone have also had a change in the perspective in their characters. The first we see of the latter two was possession and mass-murder, not particularly lovely things but everyone loves those two now.

Rake could've possibly killed the hound in the first book with magic?
Now, the fight.
*ahem*
Rake underestimates Karsa.

Karsa has no clue about Dragonspur, tries to catch it in his leg like the other magic sword, and ends up pulling a wagon for ever and ever and ever.

i voted karsa. rake will give him his little scratch, but if so theres no way karsa will stand to be chained to a wagon for eternity, so he'll bust out, busting the sword and then he'll kill rake

Rake, he's a better swordsman fought in more battles has more skill and experience. I think Karsa role in all this is to break Rakes sword as per Droconis's wishes whether he does it battle using his sword or from within remains to be seen.

i think now that Karsa is going back to the Teblor homeland he'll get a bloodwood sword to complement the flint one. they would both probably get broken by dragnipur, but imagine if he fought with both at one time? high on blood oil he could do it, and im getting aroused just thinking about it.
was that inappropriate?

Umm.. i dunno bout two swords... that would def upset the balance of the flint sword.
I COULD, however see him using bloodoir on the Flint sword to make the spirits insde a bit rowdier...

I'm not sure even Karsa could comfortably weild the stone sword one-handed.
On the other hand, we have Jaghut shying away from his sword, so I'm not sure it's as easy as 'Dragnipur would break it'.

I hope Karsa and Rake don't fight, it's one of the few battles I don't have any heart to see for some reason.
It just doesn't appeal.

well i think the reason people talk about it is because they think that karsa can finish dragnipur. he is known for doing the impossible. but maybe that could be another thread, how will dragnipur be shattered?

Well perhaps that is the point - he is know for doing the impossible, this might be the one thing even Karsa cannot do......

Following the ridiculous Karsa exploits in the books so far this is how it would play out: While Karsa approaches Rake he would casually toss his mighty sword aside, tie one arm behind his back with a belt, shout "Witness!" and then stomp on the ground really hard. When Rake looses his balance and falls down Karsa would walk up and reach down and ring Rakes neck.

That's far too cavalier a description for what Karsa has done throughout the books. I hope he and Rake don't fight, despite the fact that I'm sure Karsa would be enraged by Dragnipur.
