Not necessarily :) Shadowthrone managed to be a god and insane and he and his high priest are a chaotic structure unto themselves.

I think Sinn and Shadowthrone are two very different kinds of insane! :D

Yeah one is crazy paranoid and the other is crazy homicidal, you decide who is who.

Vengance hears all people looking at him.
How many fucking people do I have to hammer in order to get that across.

Well if we want to get tecnical on the icebreaking there's NoK.

Spoiler

The question is, how did Sinn get so competent with warrens that she's able to make complicated weavings? Or is this some common thing a mage learn on their first year and that mage from 7C taught her?

I thought that her parents were mages too. Fayelle killed her parents but missed her. The other thing is during Y'Ghatan a fire element was formed and might have found a conduit in her that it could use to keep its self alive. I will give quotes later, I am at work with out the books. That would explain her sudden mastery of fire and how it seems like she can do things with warrens that she shouldn't know how to.

Now that's an interesting point. There was ample speculation that Truth might end up linked to the 'dying' elemental, but i don't recall anyone suggesting it would link itself to Sinn.

Cool theory. Have rep.

- Abyss, thinks fire elemental theories are cool. Heehee, see what i did there...?

rep from me too.. I like that theory a lot. If she was predisposed to conduit-forming (ie parent mages) and happened to be in the right place at the right time....then maybe. Does it say what warren she actually wields? Or is she more like a Beak every-warren type?

See that is the rub, I don't remember it saying what Warren she uses. I just remember that when she is making the ice disappear that it is commented on that the other mages don't recognize what warren she was using. That is what has led to all of the speculation of her warrens. It has to be a fire aspected warren though, to much evidence to suggest otherwise.

I wouldn't put it past SE to have given her access starvald demelain leading me to think....

SHE'S THE DRAGON REBORN! I FIGURED IT OUT! oops wrong epic

I bet its fire of some type. Seems to fit, plus gives her an advantage and the ability to melt up all that ice more easily.

I seemed to that what Sinn did both at Y'Ghatan and 2nd(?) Maiden Fort was to create a barrier, not actually destroy it. In Y'Ghatan she made a hole in the fire, and on 2nd(?) Maiden Fort she stopped the ice from hitting the island, she didn't actually destroy it. Since Sinn made a barrier that stopped fire, and then one that stopped ice, she probably isn't accesing one of the traditional warrens. Perhaps it's Chaos, or maybe the CG's power, which could explain the insanity. Also she could be a Warren unto herself, similar to Karsa. What we do know is that she wasn't always like that, she made illusions at the Keep in 7C in HoC.

[QUOTE= "Faradan Sort followed suit, for she could now see what he had seen - a strange black stain spreading out within the flames, the tongues of fire flickering back, dying, the stain deepening, circular, and out from its heart staggered a figure shedding charred leathers, clasps and buckles falling away to bounce on the street.
Stumbling towards them, flames dancing in the full head of hair - dancing, yet not burning. Closer, and Faradan Sort saw it was a girl, a face she then recognized. 'She's from Cord's Ashok squad. That's Sinn.''

And on pg 388 "The child Grub clambered up the slope, flanked by the dogs Bent and Roach. And now the other figures were swarming past Blistig. Khundryl. Warlocks, witches. Keening voices, jabbering undercurrents, a force building, rising from the battered earth. Fist Blistig twisted round - a ritual, magic, what were they doing?...Nil's voice, loud from the road. 'We can feel her! Someone! Spirits below, such power!'
'Help her, damn you!'
A witch shrieked, bursting into flames on the road. Moments later, two warlocks hudled near Blistig seemed to melt before his eyes, crumbling into white ash. ... Fire flickered round another witch, then snapped out as something rolled over everyone on the road - cool, sweet power - like a merciful god's breath. Even Blistig, despiser of all things magic, could feel this emanation, this terrible, beautiful will. Driving the flames in the breach back, opening a swirling dark tunnel. From which figures staggered. Nether was on her knees near the Adjunct - the only person on the road still standing - and Blistig saw the Wickan girl turn to Tavore, heard her say, 'It's Sinn. Adjunct, that child's a High Mage. And she doesn't even know it -'"[/QUOTE]

It seems to me that she is absorbing the fire, not creating a barrier, and when the warlocks and witch's go to help her they find themselves drawn into the her fire. That is why the fire was " flames dancing in the full head of hair - dancing, yet not burning." I think that would imply that it wasn't Chaos.

Vengance wants to know if Chaos burns? or does it just destroy?

Well... in that quote from RG on pg 388 Blistig could feel "this emanation, this terrible, beautiful will. Driving the flames in the breach back" That is the very opposite of absorbing it. Those Witches and Warlocks died like that because they couldn't withstand the power of the Elemental.

I think that the most likely thig is that she has a warren inside her, similar to Karsa. I uses the willpower of Sinn to first drive back fire, then ice.

You might have a point, I hadn't looked at it like that. I don't think that it is chaos though. When the Eldur warlocks use chaos they are twisted (mentally and physically) and there is no indication that Sinn is twisted. More likely that the elemental has opened her up to previously unidentified warren.

What we really need is for Quick to meet her...which is quite possible now that he is back with the fourteenth.
I agree with Vengeance's post from the other page, in part. I'm not sure, but sometimes I think that the Elemental has possessed her. Not as in "I now control your body", but as in it inhabits her body and occasionally it channels through her/she channels it, given the power attributed to an elemental it might just be a residue, rather than the whole thing.

EDIT: And yes, this is practically repeating what was said on page 2, I just happened to read page 3 first.

As mentioned previously, she's used illusions. Maybe she's so amazing at High Meanas that she can bend reality into believing that fire isn't hot, or that ice simply doesn't exist. Kulp stated in DG that it's possible to trick reality into believing a falsehood and then forcing it to adapt it. So she could be doing that, but she'd have to be MAD crazy powerful to pull it off. After all, it took Olar Ethil's help and that of a few other ascendants to make Kulp change reality and get out of the warren he was trapped in while riding the Silanda.

Nitpicking but what the ascendants and the EG did, was to help close and heal the mess Kulp made when he hitched on to Olar Ethil.

I don't remember the details, but Kulp was in real trouble becuase things were spilling out and stuff. They lended strength to his twist of reality.
