Interesting point re the abundance of lizardies. Note that the enkaral, big lizard predator thingys, are somehow derived from dragons.

Makes you wonder just how big a ho Tiam really was back in the day, doesn't it...?

Ok, a little ill now.

I'd have thought it was more likely to be a (minus) 47 gun broadside from the Saucy Sall, or whatever Abyss' pirate vessel is called

More like the Arcadia. With a lounge, mast-top disco ball, and, naturally, orbital bombardment weaponry. Also, catnip on tap.

- Abyss, also, bitchin zero-atmosphere digital sound.

Just to get back on topic, there is the fact that the power of Silchas Ruin simply takes control of their little minds, maybe Ruin used them as a distraction or something a little more dramatic.

Ruin is such a drama queen

Be pretty handy tho. Imagine infesting an enemy city with legions of lizardmice. That'd show those pesky Letherii...
Wait... Hang on... That wouldnt be useful at all lol

As I reflected when I read your signature just now, Abyss, it would be fun to have those dragons meet Ganoes Paran...

Actually I think anyone meeting Ganoes for the first time is interesting. Or any time. I think it's because I can never anticipate what he will do. Heh.

In RG as Silchas Ruin is paying his respects to the soldiers in the fort, there
is this sentence: 'Swarming over everything in sight were orthen, closing on
fallen soldiers, and where they gathered skin was chewed through and the
tiny scaled creatures burrowed in a frenzy into pulped meat.'

In Midnight Tides there is this: 'Not a tree left standing. Naught but
corpses. And the tiny creatures that fed on them. Hood's own legion.
Death's sorid tide, fur backed and rising.'

Seems the mice know that unpleasant thngs happen when Ruin is around.
In RG pg 99, the wraith refers to Ruin as ...this pale king of the orthen

Another quote from MT same page or so as above. Got me baffled. Hopefully, you more knowledgeable fans can explain it. The apparition (Ruin) speaking:

'A dragon,' the apparition said in the language of the Tiste, 'once dragged
itself down this trail. No forest back then. Naught but devastation. Blood
in the broken earth. The dragon, mortal, made this trial. Do you feel
this? Beneath you, the scattering of memory that pushes the roots,
that bows the trees to either side. A dragon,' the creature then turned
looked down the road behind it. 'The Edur - he ran unseeing, unmindful.
Kin of my betrayer. Yet...an innocent.'

Dragon, Edur, Male, kin of Scabby, yet an innocent????????

Is Ruin refering to a dragon or the Edur people?

It would seem logical, unless the war was bigger than we think, that the dragon mentioned is Scabby. He was wounded by Killy, broken bones, etc.

I was just doing a reread of a passage and I noted the rodents that flock around the grand albino.

In Midnight Tides, when that ghost/wraith (Ruin?) appears before the party travelling to the village of the Edur, there's a flood ofmice scutling along the road, hundreds of thousands or millions of them. Now I'm not even completely sure that wraith was Ruins but it was said that a dragon made that trail crawling to it's death. I'm guessing that was Scabby trying to get away from the EG police.

The again in RG when they are traversing the mountains, the KCCM bred lizard mice are flocking around the travellers and they follow Ruin into the fort where Ruin kills a few dozen people for the fun of it.

Is it just the funky smell of rotten Andii or some weird connection?

Hood's breath! Something Apt doesn't know!

I think the orthen were from KG, or something.

But then they would be blind... right? The orthen are specifically mentioned as being connected to the KCCM. I think it may have said that they came from the homeworld.

I can't see how it could have been Scabby, didn't Rake and Killy stride into Emhurlan(however its spelt) and deal out the final justice to scabby?

Considering the Andii seem to have a number of eleint soletaken of no real renoun or fame, I think it's fair to say the Edur may well have had a few eleint outside what was the current ruling family of the edur. Considering the war was against the k'chain, it wouldn't be a suprise to find there was more eleint soletaken involved and they simply died fighting, hence why we've never heard of them. Let's be fair tiam's blood got around as much as she did in the end.

Pale king of the Orthen... Hmm, well since KCCM supposedly are related to the true-blood Eleint, and these things are related to the KCCM, if not perhaps even made by them, it makes sense they would find a friend in Ruin, the man with the most draconean blood we've seen so far.

He is doth referring to both. First he's talking about a dragon crawling and making the trail. Most likely it was Scabby, having already been wounded a bit by Killy/Mael and is trying to crawl away. Once Silch turns to look down the road behind him, he is talking about Trull, who ran down the trail to warn his folks of the tusked seal slaughter (or any other Edur who ran down the trail).

There's another piece of that same passage in MT dealing with the mice - they appeared en masse when Silchas' apparition appeared before Seren, Buruk and Hull, and Silch said the mice were actually some sort of manifestation of the past tied to him. Go look it up!

Thanks, your explanation of the Dragon and Edur makes sense.

As to the mice. I was satisfied that they consider Ruin their king and they
eat the dead. Wasn't interested in the fact that the mice have been around
since Ruin's time nor that field mice were scrambling over Seren's boot whereas scaled mice were feeding at the fort

As to the "Go look it up!" remark. I guess you were just being your usual
pompous self

Hmmm, good point on the different types of mice - maybe it's a general animal-family thingamajig??

And yeah, I was being my usual hippopomposite self, delegating the referencing of sacred texts to my minions. Mwahahahaha and so forth.
