hmm.. well dunno how he did it, but he used the power of blood, or rather "on the bones of 7 million sacrifices". (MoI mmpb, pg 40)

We know that people can learn to use warrens they aren't gifted with. Kallor could have learned some tricks in the hundred thousand years he has been walking the earth.

Lets look at the scene in MoI, I'll highlight the parts where Kallor is using magic:

Quote

'Yes…' rasped Kallor beside her.
Korlat pulled her gaze from Silverfox, curious enough at Kallor's tone to draw her attention.
In time to see the rough-edged blade flashing at her head. Pain exploded. A moment of confusion, when all was strangely still, then the ground hammered her side. Heat flared down her face, lancing down from her forehead. She blinked, wondered at her own body, which had begun thrashing. Warren——chaotic—Kallor— A blurred scene before her eyes, her point of view from the ground.
Skull—broken—dying—
Her vision cleared, every line and edge of what she saw too sharp, sharp like knife-blades, slicing her soul to ribbons. Kallor, with a delighted roar, charged towards Silverfox, chain armour flowing like a cloak. Grey-veined magic danced on the ground around the warrior.
The Rhivi woman stopped, mouth opening, terror filling her eyes. She screamed something—
—something—
'T'lan Ay. Defend me!'
Yet she remained alone—
Kallor closed, sword gripped in both gauntleted hands, closed, raising the weapon high.
Then Whiskeyjack stood in his path, longsword lashing up to clang against Kallor's weapon. A sudden, fierce exchange, sparks flashing. Kallor leapt back, bellowing his frustration, and his heel caught—
Whiskeyjack saw his moment. Sword thrusting out, a duellist's lunge, fully extending, weight pounding down on the lead leg—
Which buckled.
She saw the sliver of bone rip up through the man's leather-clad thigh.
Saw the pain on her lover's face, the sudden recognition—
As Kallor's huge sword punched into his chest. Slid between ribs. Ripped through heart and lungs in a diagonal, inward-slicing thrust.
Whiskeyjack died on that blade—life dropping back from the eyes that met Korlat's, back, away, then gone.
Kallor dragged his weapon free.
He reeled suddenly, impaled by two crossbow quarrels. Chaotic magic snaked up around the offending missiles, disintegrating them. Blood spurted. Unmindful, Kallor readied his sword once more, as the two marines closed in tandem.
The women were superb, fighting as one.
But the man they fought—
A mortal scream—the marine on the right stumbled in a welter of blood, reaching down to gather uncoiling, tumbling intestines, then sinking earthward. Her helmed head left her shoulders before her knees touched ground.
The other woman rushed Kallor, sword thrusting high for the warrior's face.
A side-step, a downward chop, severing the arm—
But the marine had already surrendered it, and her left hand, gripping a pig-sticker, was unimpeded as it punched through the chain-links covering Kallor's stomach.
The edge of Kallor's sword carved up through the marine's throat. She spun in a red spray, toppled.
Gasping, the ancient warrior reeled back, yellow-streaked blood spurting from the hole in his stomach. 'Chained One!' he screamed. 'Heal me!'
Not—a warren—
—not chaotic—where?
A wave of knotted gold hammered into Kallor, swallowed him in frenzied fire. He shrieked, thrown off his feet, battered as the magic pursued, ripping into him, blood threading the air as he sprawled to the ground.
A second wave rolled towards the man, coruscating with sunfire—The warren that opened around Kallor was a miasmic stain, a sickly tear—that swept around him—to vanish, taking Kallor with it.

Now the all the magic we see connected to Kallor is described as grey or chaotic, which does sound like the CG. Kallor is also called gray but that probably doesn't matter. The thing that my crazy theory is based on, is that Kallor first calls out to the CG after he has destroyed the arrows in his chest, for healing.

If it was the CGs power that, with a mind of its own or with the gods direct presence, disintegrated the arrows wouldn't it immediatly have healed him too?

My theory is that the CG didn't have any real involvement before he rescues Kallor. But of course the CG could have just given Kallor some basic gifts back in the tent where Kallor accepted the position of Reaver.

heh.. I'm a stickler, as we all know, so:
Kallor thought he'd be King in Chains (or that's what Gethol hinted at)
CG's not big on the whole "healing thing"--when he healed the artist (whose name I forget yet again!!!), he made him a cripple.
my little bit of crazy for the day--Poliel is referred to as "the Grey Goddess". could the power of Kallor be her "entrance fee" to the House of Chains?

The knotted gold is Tayschrenn when he takes action against Kallor. He does a second wave as Kallor disappears.

Kallor and Krul have unfinished business, let's not forget.

The question is...is Kallor stupid enough to fully trust the Crippled God? Or is his desire for power and his alliance with the CG just a means for his true plans?

When(not if) Draconus comes out of the sword, all Kallors curses will have been broken, will this in turn free Kallor of the EGs curses?

and if Draconus does escape...Rake may be dead...thus removing one of the few people Kallor fears...hmmm...you present an interesting question. Will we suddenly see an ASCENDANT...younger more lively Kallor?

Silverfox (nightchill) as well as Rake doubts that Draconus will go after Rake when he is freed. The many thousand years in the sword has tought Draconus humility and tempered his legendary cruelty, so says Nightchill.

All of them know that it is the CG and his infection that needs be solved.

I wonder if they will just stick dragnipur into an azath when the sword needs breaking. The amount of powerfull souls released is going to insane. I don't know how anything is going to contain that much power.

If Kallor makes the mistake to not fear anyone after Rake is dead...than he is in for a nasty surprise. Silchas found out just how painful mere "mortals" can be didn't he? And QB, Hedge, Fidd and co. did not exactly have all that much against Silchas at the time. Can you see them confronting Kallor, screaming "Bloody Murder"? Ooohhhh that WILL be funn!

Does anybody think Korlat will be the one to kill Kallor? Or is she doomed to a tragic ending as well by trying to avenge Whiskeyjack?

I could see Kallor die in the next couple of books but I hope he wins.

I predict a tragic end for Korlat, Kallor will be around for quite a while longer (hopefully)

I wonder if the CG is planning to unleash the souls inside Dragnipur...or whether he fears them. If the CG is nigh on invincible, he'd relish the power that would be unleashed at Dragnipur's hands. All of those chaotic souls free, the CG's plans for Karsa?

If Dragnipur is broken by an opponent what are the chances Rake will survive?

An ascendant Kallor would be an awesome sight, and he wouldn't think that he could defeat anyone...he's too shrewd for that and would act accordingly. Overestimating yourself to such a risky degree doesn't strike me as a Kallor thing although it is not beneath him.

Well, the sword is unbreakable except for one flaw that Draconus added, when it breaks it wil be from the inside I think.

The question is what to do with that many powerfull souls. Hoods minions might show up and try and ghostbust them but there's thousands of them. I don't think an azath could hold it all either.

It will probably be the walking improbability engine Karsa that takes them.

The Andii are going to be roused from their "slumber". All this time we've seen them sort of just going through the motions. Korlat's grief over Whiskeyjack's death was much more important than simply a woman grieving over a lover. It was an awakening. A feeling of emotions and the first crack in the wall that the Andii have built around them over the long years of their existence.

Even if they all die, I think we are going to see Rake's Andii unleashed...like Korlat refers to in MoI. Perhaps Rake or Korlat's death will be the event that brings the Andii "back to life". Nobody living has seen them at full power...besides some Ascendants.

The more I think about it...the more I see Rake living because we all think he's going to bite it...or a lot of us do.

Kallor has much more to do before he gets his due...if he does.

I counter that. Can you see Kallor triumphing in his fight against THEM. NOW THAT WILL BE FUN.

Aptorian I like you theory. Maybe the power indeed is Kallor's own.

People here have certainly accepted some theories as 'almost-facts', but nothing is truly sure. Kallor could end up as the Emperor of Emperors, Rake could very well survive, and Karsa might have a personal ticket to Hood before the end.

Kallor has yellow-blood :D What a great guy! Kalahinen you are respectable :)

Karsa will hopefully die, that's one of my chief needs from the rest of the books. I hated Toblakai, I found Karsa's scenes interesting and even began to like him. Now the majority of people like Karsa and I feel he's grown too arrogant, personally RG went too far for me in making Karsa invincible. I hope some one put's him in place and slaughters him.

I like him to a certain extent but at the same time some things have to be done.

Hmmm.. I don't really mind Karsa in RG. His "Invincibility" comes down to him owning Rhulad, but everyone already expected that...I'm interested to see Karsa learning and shedding his arrogance, and I through all this I believe that inhis world-saving moment he'll get jumped by the Fa from HoC and die. because it's been prophecised since HoC.

I was certainly not expecting Rhulad to go down like that. According to MTs talk of his increase in power through death, he should have been the most evil thing ever wielding a sword.

Stupid Erikson, not staying true to the facts.

Karsa was evilestier.

And even then, he had to take one thru the leg to make it happen.

- Abyss, notes that's still better than taking one thru the head...
