just read the latest interview with SE on the wiki and he said his favourite acendant was Gothos... So I do think jughut can ascend.

About paran, will look for that quote after work so it might only be later this evening.

Paran was on the verge of ascending since the beginnings of MoI... it's a pretty safe bet that since he's so much more in control now, that he did, in fact, ascend. in the Deck of Dragons appendix, he is listed as the "corresponding ascendant" to the MotD.

Could you give us a quote to Paran perhaps being ascended? 'Cause my impression of the Master of The Deck is that The Master, and that is also Parans opinion, does well to stay low and humble. Otherwise ascendants or FAs for example are likely to start getting nasty.

I don't know of any quote that states Paran has ascended. But when he travelled to Seven Cities in BH he was quite sure he would be immune to any disease, and said so to Apsalar.

That's an ascendant trait, though you could attribute it to his MotD status. I'm inclined to say that Paran has ascended at this point, but I don't have anything more concrete than that to base it on.

I do believe someone mentions that Paran has ascended, alright. And even if he hasn't, he was "on the edge of ascendancy" in MoI, as kud13 pointed out, so hes gonna reach godhood soon enough.
The FA seem to be more or less dealt with, and ascendants are busy with the CG and their own plans, so I dont think Paran has much to fear, if hes an Ascendant.

The very concept of the Malazan world is that the Gods and Ascendants have everything to fear. Like WJ says on the very first pages of GotM, keep your head down and wish for an uneventfull life.

The ascendants can't help it, they are always pulled in or in danger of being eaten/spiked/bedazzled by some other power that wants their thinkymeat or something like that.

I think Paran is gonna hate being MotD, it already sounds like he loathes it.

I think Icarium becomes Hood in the future, who comes back to the past. Is he not called "lifestealer"? :heyhey:

I m quite sure Ganath the jaghut tells Paran that he is equivalent to the Errant that people will soon start to worship him and he will become a god
