Errantly not!

Well, the Errant may be such a "bad" ascendent because he also has to both be the "lucky" Ascendent, Nudge and Pull, like Oponn and be the "impartial" Ascendent, the Master of the Holds.
Errant has 2 jobs, Master of the Tiles + Nudge/Pull
Paran has 1, Master of the Deck
Oponn has 1, Nudge/Pull.
Perhaps the combination is bad together? Should the Master not be impartial? Perhaps thats why the Forkrul Assail hated him too?
(Sidenote, perhaps being influenced by the Nudge/Pull is a requirement to being a Master, Paran was taken over by Oponn in Gardens of the Moon before he became Master of the Deck)

HAHAHA, Lister of Smeg, I would totally love that! :lachen70: The Errant has always lacked a poetic side, no doubt...
blackzoid, the Errant is always a bad combination...with everything.

I don't know about the Errant being all bad. Before he got infected from the thoughts of the sea-demon in Reaper's Gale, he seemed like an "Ok" Ascendent.
He did help Iron Bars and Mael in Midnight Tides after all. Maybe I'm the only one, but I think he can be slightly redemmed or at least die a good death.

besides, if I'm not too mistaken, in RG the Errant suddenly lost his power to actually be able to predict what would happen in the future... which makes his job a whole lot harder. So it could be that he really just accidently did some shit he actually didn't want to happen (like killing Trull).
However it be, I don't hate the Errant... but I don't really like him either... but on the other hand, I don't like Oponn either
It's probably just the nudging all the time I hate

I despise Oponn, and in RG, the Errant was just a pain!

He realises he's blind to the future at the end of Midnight Tides.

yes dancer, but that doesn't change the fact that he could have done stuff he actually didn't want to happen, does it?

He got part of his 'sight' back - that's what Feather Witch did - then he killed her. She might have been annoying, but she still didn't deserve to die. Too bad she was a maniac...

I put too much emphasis on the trull part, his sight was lost through some other means and methods. I can't remember specifically but his power may have been clouded with the ascension of Paran to the Master of the Deck.

What i origionally ment when i started this was that Tribol Gnol is a wuss and it seems that either the Errant has sperm that do a bad backstroke or he and other ascendants perhaps have the power to refrain from divulging said power onwards.
That or Tribon Gnol just didnt reach his potential.
He had nice hands though, you always need nice hands.
Mine arnt nice. They are big and meaty. Handsomeley meatified though of course...

"I think i was a bad person before. Before this time. I do not try to be good now but i am not bad. Perhaps if i try harder i may get a better hand dealt next time? But surely that makes it pointless? Perhaps i am good. Just good at being pointless. But that would make me bad. Bad at having a point. Ah…. I see now. I was nothing before, I am nothing now. I am bad purely because im pointless. "

That Tribon's mother was a non-powerful human most probably has a fair bit to do with it too. Ever noticed how a lot of people's power/not-power seems to come from the mother...
ie: Rud Elalle is a soletaken eleint, but L'Oric isn't? (though L'Oric is still a capable mage because his mom is the QoD after all...)

Big hands are a good sign, but not very practical except for creating a bigger fist, or having a bigger surer grip...basically, good for anything with power, bad for dexterity. I like my hands, huge hand span
I don't buy into this genetic power thing except in the case of Soletaken's. The Errant is only a regular ascendant (god), but a very old one. If Shadowthrone or Cotillion were to have children I would expect them to be normal unless there was some other reason for their increased capacity e.g. exposure to the azath house etc. The Errant may have given his children some mild benefit but I can't see the benefits being that strong.

Don't forget the BH epilogue, ST's already got a child. He's such a super-duper-god that his kid seems to be an empire, but is really the most powerful D'ivers ever.

Actually, it was due to Icarium's arrival throwing everything off - and the re-awakening of Icarium's old ritual, woven into the grounds and (most importantly) architecture of Letheras.

Is this stated in RG? I must have totally overlooked that.
I Had always figured that the Errant's sight came from his position as master of the tiles. This being inherently bound to the holds, I assumed that he lost his power when Gothos' ritual faded away and allowed warrens to be accessed on Lether.

Iccy didn't have anything to do with the Errants vision. He started loosing it before the jhags arrival. If I'm not mistaken he lost it as early as the seventh closure?
It could be that it was the weakening of Gothos ritual or it might be because of the ascension of a master of the deck. It's never said why the Errant is loosing his sight, he just is, and the Errant is as confused as we are.
