The question would be whether "normal" ascendants don't give on their godliness whilst the ones born that way do, they being Elder Gods, the Children of Darkness, etc.. ?

Rake's children don't seem all that impressive either come to think of it. Maybe ascendant babies need a god-mother and a god-father?

Mother or Father Ascendent or otherwise the blokes an Elder God! All be it a simpering one that needs an elbow drop to the mid section but he is supposed to be an edler god.

Incidentally an Edler God is a God who has a Dubious claim to Elder status and not a spelling mistake at all.

He was the Master of the Tiles/Holds and later ascended to become the God of proding and whine. He's just and old god, not and Elemental.

Which means he wasn't around in the Wandering days, like the elemental ones.

And, I dont think who your father is is going to have an effect on your personality/mentality. Incestuous weirdness aside, there's no hard and fast rule that the children of ascendents/gods will automatically be ascendents themselves. Plus we don't know what state the Errant was in when he spawned Triban (or his anscestors?). Could have been pre-ascension, during, at a low phase, etc.

Well... There's L'oric, the son of Osserc, but he IS a High Mage (no matter how low people may think of him)

Nimander Golit and Phaed, offsprings of Rakey (we haven't actually seen them in action, so we can't say if they've gained something from ther papa)

Rud Ellale, son of an Eleint Soletaken and a mortal, but he IS powerful and a Soletaken.

Then, metaphorically speaking, we could say that Apsalar is Cotillion's daughter... (we all know how powerful she is!)

Maybe I'm just hungover, but can't really think of anyone else, although I'm sure there are lots more Ascendant children whooping around...

Anyways, it does seem that in the most cases children DO benefit from their high-power parents...

I think we will hear more from the Errant if only so we can have an answer to the whole master of the Holds / Master of the deck conundrum.

I guess it will only take Paran to draw a card and rip it up with the errant on there for him to destroy him.

Although with the new knowledge that there is a new beast hold up and running perhaps the Errant can use this info to move out of Lether and as a focus and base for his power while he goes to kick Oponns butt.
