I like the colour tones in the one the with Lasers but I don't like the lasers. Other than that. Damn fine work.
It shouldn't be lasers. It should be indiscrimate waves of power If I remember that correctly being the line to describe how Rake attacked down on the ground.

@Hume, Brood and I have argued about this, and my point was that light seen from a distance usually looks like a beam or "laser". I'm sure if we were able to "zoom in" on Komarck's art, or if the piece was from closer up...the beams would look like waves.
I think it's gorgeous.

Completely disagrees,
except for the last bit, only somewhat.

The point I think you're missing MrX, is that the "lines of magic" for want of a less-controversial term are constant, spirit-level straight, go all the way from source to target, and incredably thin. The way the magic is always descirbed in the books, especially the Battle of Pale parts, is huge billowing waves, that aren't constant, spread further and further out as they grow and move away from the mage etc.

The point you are missing, McCrumpet, is you are a ridiculously picky pest who enjoys annoying me

Seriously, demostrate with a diagram how expanding, non-constant waves can be moved to look like a dead-straight, continuous line, and I'll believe you. Not before:p

I wonder how many pictures total we will be getting with this edition?
I really hope Komarck does the other books if similar editions are published, that'd be the ultimate Malaz Bookshelf Collection.

Looks more like concentrated magic (balls of fire) I think. Certainly not lazers.

I like them both
if you look at the pictures in a bigger format even the magic beams look cool (and nothing like lazers)

I painted something akin in style and quality the other day
It's beautiful.
I'll add something meaningful another day when I've had a better look.

Just heard back from Bill, and he tells me that more than half of the numbered editions have been sold, and that doesn't take into account store orders and online (Amazon, etc) orders.
Which means that if you want one, better get on the horn! Great discounts on the amazon sites, by the way...

I just had to grab a limited one rather than the lettered version but never mind!
I spent the entire day yesterday stewing as to whether to buy one or not however decided it was best to grab one anyway could be a worthy investment if the entire series gets done they will be my display versions, rather than the creased spines and coffee and tea stained versions im currently re reading!
Oh well now all there is to do is wait! Im sure we wont be disappointed!

Not a bad deal for $74, too bad it's not going to be here till July.
QUOTE (Stalker @ Jan 23 2009, 01:09 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So last night I was walking downtown for some pizza at like 1am with some friends of mine,
and someone said, "I'm so hungry I could eat a whole pizza."
I said, "I bet I could eat 100 pizzas," and no one understood me. I was sad.

I emailed Bill yesterday to query on the progress of this, and he says he should be seeing some more of Komarck's art this week, hopefully

That means he wants to eat the book/artwork
It won't be my book. *snatches invisible book away*
