Hi All,
Later today or tomorrow we'll be posting the info for the limited edition of Gardens of the Moon to the Subterranean Press site. A quick hint: Sign up for the newsletter at our main page, as we will be offering a special price on the limited and lettered editions to newsletter subscribers.
Here's the pertinent info:
Subterranean Press is proud to announce the first volume of The Malazan Book of the Fallen, of one of the most important fantasy series of our time. Gardens will be released late this year or early next year.
The numbered edition will:
-- Be printed on 80# Finch paper, guaranteeing a lifetime of enjoyment
-- Be illustrated profusely, including 1-3 chapter heads, plus seven full-page, full color interior illustrations
The lettered edition will include everything in the numbered, plus the following features:
-- A completely different dust jacket
-- A gatefold pull-out illustration
-- A custom traycase to protect your book
Those who order from Subterranean Press will have the right of first refusal on other titles in the series, meaning you can build a matched set of numbers.
The limited edition of Gardens of the Moon will be available exclusively from Subterranean Press, in two unique editions:
Limited: 500 signed numbered hardcover copies: $125
Lettered: 52 signed, deluxe bound copies, housed in a custom traycase: $300
As I noted above, the ordering info isn't on our site yet, but will likely be posted later today or tomorrow.
Best,
Bill

I think my student loans coming through soon, looks like I'll have to sacrifice eating for a year.
Seriuosly I want this so bad but how am I supposed to find £150ish to spend on a book?

Hello Bill,
Thanks for the info. I recieved the news via the newsletter and ordered one of the lettered editions. I didn't see a discount for the lettered edition when I checked out.
Did I miss something?
All in all, I'm VERY excited about owning one of these special editions. I know it will be a gem in my book collection.
Thanks for making this happen!!!
Best,
Henry Lopez

Just checked my email and saw the announcement. When I clicked through, the price was adjusted on the PayPal page. Very, very excited!
Just hoping that the consecutive volumes take a year or so to come out, otherwise it's going to be a difficult explanation to the Missus.

Hi all,
We're likely to be publishing volumes every 6 to 9 months, depending on the artist's schedule.
Best,
Bill

So the special price is only for the limited Ed. (100$ instead of 125$)? No special offer for the 300$ monster? (I know it says in the first post that there is one for both books, but in the newsletter you only mention the limited ed. bonus)
And when will we be able to see the art for the book? I'm not willing to put down that much money without even a glance at the product.
Thanks in advance
Karsa

This is probably a dumb question, but what is a "traycase"? Is it the same thing as a slipcase?

Bill told me that the cover art should be available around September.
Don't know if Subpress will make the rest of the artwork available. . .
For those interested, I'll have a limited edition up for grabs on the blog. You can begin to bribe me now!

Is Subterranean still planning on splitting the later books into two parts each for publication? This would make collecting a complete lettered set... daunting, to say the least.

Crap! Crapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrapcrap ... etc.
Is that $US? With the Komarck art?
Looks like that tax cheque is going to disappear a lot faster than previously anticipated. Unless I win Pat's competition ...

I'm getting it.
Although I feel bad about spending hard earned money on a $300 fantasy book when I have things to pay
