Mousasi is a beast.

Y'all NEED to watch the less than 2 minutes of the Sobral fight. I could see him being a serious, serious threat to Machida inside a year. And Jon Jones could be one at the end of next year too.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I went back and rewatched the Mousasi-Sobral fight.

Mousasi sets the finish up with a weirdly effective Greco-Roman throw. It looks like it was a combination of Sobral's baaaad footwork (possibly because he got his bell run with an uppercut righty in the clinch), Mousasi recognizing the right time and executing in spectacular fashion.

I say weird because I've not seen anyone in high-level MMA, Jon Jones included, toss someone on the ground like that with the body distance Mousasi had.

Yeah I saw the KO... Mousasi looked very sharp... and Sobral is a talented fighter and looked silly in that fight... I will being paying close attention in his upcomming fights.

@bent

I read yesterday about Carwin skiping his Cain Velazquez fight and going straight for gold... i have mixed feelings about that but its should be an exciting fight...
We will see How Brock deals with a knock artist... it just seems like Cain got the bad end of that deal as now he will be facing Ben Rothwell at 104... maybe he will get to face the winner of the Brock/Carwin fight isntead now... if he wins that is..

I think Brock will suffer his 2nd loss in MMA against Shane...

I watched a few more Mousasi fights to freshen up. He tries that throw all the time, especially in the first round, but hasn't really hit it until Sobral gifted him the perfect set-up.

My instructor told me that in BJJ you consciously avoid your favorite moves after a while, because they're so ingrained in you that they come out in fights anyways. It's better to work on the other stuff and build on that base. I'm noticing that to a degree, but of course, I still don't have a whole lot of experience or moves.

Carwin and Lesnar aren't much different in size (Carwin said he was at 293 after a training session recently), but I do think Lesnar's wrestling and ground game is a good deal better than Carwin's. It'll be an interesting match-up - stylistically like an improved version of the Severn-Coleman fight ages ago.

Now that, fight fans, was a fun night of UFC. A record fast KO, a KO so brutal it sends a man spinning 180 degrees in the air like it was a freaking video game, and a war in the main event. Fun stuff.

Lavigne needs to be banned from reffing. Disgusting.

hell yeah RLY

That was one of the best PPVs in the last 6 months... just wonderful...

I feel so bad for Maiai and Jardine... but they both lost fair and square...

Nog VS Couture could very well be fight of the year

How Couture came back from that knock out in the 1st round and submissions ill never know... tough bastard..

Nog proved alot, he looked outstanding but Randy just as easily proved he can take a fight to anyone and be competitive...

Everytime i see Randy fight im get more impressed... for being the only fighter to claim social security he is the man... B)

I Think Nog could easily put Brock in Danger...

anyway... fucking awesome...

So,

any news in the MMA world?

Last things i looked up where that Anderson Silva will be having elbow surgery and be out for 6 months or more...

Fedors first fight will be against Brett Rogers.. in November?

The Rampage Jackson VS Rashad Evans fight will not be happening in the near future, due to Jackson acting in the up coming movie the A-Team (as Mr. T's character)

Well how about that...

Thanks Bent, still looks like that fight is off...which sucks...

I wonder What UFC Will pull together for the main event cards now...

unless injury happens, we have the Franklin VS Belfort (UFC 103)

Shogun VS Lyoto (UFC 104)

UFC 106 should have Shane Carwin VS Brock Lesnar...

interesting stuff

Great night of free fights tonight. The UFN was excellent top to bottom, and this looks to be an interesting season of TUF. Good times.

Just saw the first two fights before work and they were both worthy of 'fight of the night' so I'm looking forward to watching the rest over a few cold beers this evening ;)

Ok,

So my Brother just had his Pro MMA Debut in Laredo TX, small event, but The main even was Butterbean,

my brother fought Butterbean's son.... He fucking WON, first round, 2:54 seconds, submission from strikes... they came to Texas expecting a walkthrough and my brother put him down...

back ground, this guy was 21 (my bro 29) This was my brother's first time in a cage, first MMA fight, he has only been training for about 6 months... Caleb the guy he fought had about 4-5 amateur fights...

more background, fight was outside, so it was slippery as shit, cuz it rained and was humid... my brother was unable to use kicks because of fear of falling... regardless, great first MMA fight. oh and here is the fucking link to the fight

Faaaantastic story, Zanth. Wow.

Tell your brother to really look into arm triangles. I was all like "YEEAAAAH!" when he got Esch down and "Awww.." when he got swept. Then I was just surprised at the knockdown and yelling at your brother to sink the arm triangle.

UFN was a solid card. Guillard seemed to freeze at exactly the wrong time and gave Diaz so much opportunity, he switched sides and still got 'im.

UFC 103 - where stupid gameplans were nastily shown up. Franca showed up as an out of shape Oompa Loompa and got KO'd for it. Kampmann tried to stand with a world class striker and got KO'd for it. Trigg just chested the wall once hit and got KO'd for it. Franklin's demolition was kinda bad luck though. Sorry to see him go out like that, but at least we get to see Belfort-Silva soon. Cro Cop didn't look like he wants to fight anymore. His head's not in it, despite the slipping excuses. Drwal looked bad and only McFedries being even worse saved him. Story fought well. I was surprised to see Pyle grind out a decision over Wilson.

As good as Belfort's boxing and positioning looked, I still think Silva takes him apart (it'll take longer than Griffin, for sure though). Henderson-Marquardt is supposedly on for #1 contender (post-Belfort). I think Marquardt takes that easily. I also hope like hell Maia can build up his striking to "competent" and get back into contention after Okami gets his shot next year (assuming everything stays on track for Okami).

Still haven't seen the Janitor's fight or Emerson/dos Anjos.

HAHAH thanks,

Arm neck triange is my brothers favorite submission, he was going for it, but his trainer screamed at him that the round only had 15 seconds left and to do as much damage as possible with strikes so he let it go and ground and pounded.

I like the Arm neck, but dont get it landed as much as my brother, i land the kimura the most, and have some decent normal triangels
now...

edit: you can see me in the corner at certain times with our instructor, im sitting at the table on the far left on the right center side of the screen, most exciting thing ive done since skydiving, probably even better.... and that was just watching it
