^ interesting......

I am really looking forward to seeing Jones fight again.

his fight with Bonnar was RIDICULOUS. he was flinging in suplex's and stuff, it was like watching a pro wrestling match.

I raved about that fight for a couple of weeks to my friends, mainly to a load of blank w.t.f. faces, sadly, but still....
meh. Link was dead :(

You want to read this post then, from Bloody Elbow, explaining some of the Greco-Roman moves Jones pulled in that fight (scroll down in the comments for some great, great gifs of the actual throws): http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2009/2/3/745223...w-judo-chop-jon

Nice find. Some people are just gifted at tossing others into the air. I wrestled with a guy who (as far I know) invented his own throw - instead of under/over hooks, he would get a single colar tie with his right arm, then an overhook with his left arm where his left hand would come all the way over and lock up on his right elbow. Thrown like a lateral drop. This throw might exist in martial arts somewhere, but sure as hell not in folkstyle wrestling.

I'd like to see more underarm spins in mma. It seems like it would be effective. You only need one overhook to pull it off, and even if it doesn't go off perfectly it would lead to good positioning. I've seen Parisian do whatever the judo equivalent is, which is not exactly the same but still effective. (The judo version you end up basically kneeling facing away from the opponent pulling them over your shoulder. Thee wrestling version you're more out to the side.) I'm sure the underarm spin has its roots in martial arts somewhere, probably judo.

With the kickback used in the underarm spin, a guy who's seen the move before will recognize and go for the back or knee the crap out of the spinner. The threat of the RNC (probably the most common choke in MMA) makes it higher risk than in wrestling. Might see it a couple times here and there though from someone who's really good at judo too.

I'll see if I can work the other move you laid out into a grappling session.

Yeah, the RNC would be a danger, but I know I've seen Parisian do it. Not may guys as good at judo as him though in MMA.

Good luck on the other one. (It's called a Patterson btw, after the guy who invented it.) The only person I've ever seen pull it off was a 6'6 all-american wrestler. He had super long arms and his height gave him wicked leverage.

I'm pissed. For no apparent reason they showed tonight's installment of the Best 100 UFC Fights at 8 instead of 9, so I missed it. Shit. I think they're replaying them all on saturday before the ppv, but I have to get to the casino where I watch the fights early to get a seat, so I can't catch it then either.

right now i'm still nervously waiting on them announcing WHAT F***ING CHANNEL it's going to be on over here.

goddamn Setanta going to the wall.

I know Dana has said it will air live, and I know there are like, five channels after it (Virgin 1, Bravo, Channel 5, ESPN, Sky sports)

but would SOMEONE make the f***ing call already and let us know?

Dana White's Twitter said:

UFC 100 will air live, free of charge, on SKY Channel 433 as well as on UFC.com

It's free only on SKY. The UFC website is a PPV, with access to the undercard fights given as well.

Fedor might run through him, but not if he got taken down first. If Lesner tried to stand with him, he would get thumped, but think he might be able to win it on the ground. He completely nullified Mir's ground game. Either way, it would be a fun fight to watch.

Fights tonight were goooood. I love seeing the guy talking all the shit get KO'd.

I spoilered out the results, some people have yet to watch it. My suggestion would be to spoiler out any results info for at least a week.

I had to work and will be downloading it as soon as it comes up :killingme: i know the results and still can't wait to watch it. And i was really hoping too see Mir pull it out late, I think Brock is a freak but he still has soo much to work on all around and hated that they gave him the title fight so fast to start with.

Lesnar has the worst sportsmanship in the ufc. And i mean all his fights are gonna be the exact same, lay on his opponent that he outweighs by 20 pounds.

But the other fights were good so it was worth it.

Isn't that what most wrestlers who can only wrestle do?

The difference between Mir and Fedor is that Fedor just might have the best ground game in MMA. That sublime arm bar of Coleman waaaay back when comes to mind.

I don't think Lesnar could put Fedor on his back without rapidly improving his game even further. It was apparent that he had indeed been training his grappling and ground game over the last year though.

Hated Lesnar in the beginning, but you actually have to concede that he has technical skill as well as attributes and a brutal killer instinct as well. Would love to see him against Fedor. What for other fighters might be "rabbit punches" (Sperry's term :killingme: have KO power for Lesnar.

I hated Lesnar, but I give him a little credit. He's obviously winning fights, just not against top competition.

Fedor has faced people who are better at everything than Brock - bigger, better wrestlers, heavier, better strikers - and beat them all with ease. Lesnar doesn't deserve that kind of fight yet. If Nogueria puts on a good performance and beats Couture - and shows that Nog isn't that far past his prime - I'd like to see Lesnar take him on. Shane Carwin is also another future contender that Lesnar can challenge to prove that he has the skills to be a top heavyweight.

Also: GSP is a god.

Who has Fedor faced that is a better wrestler than Lesner? I'm not being confrontational, I'm just asking.

I don't think Lesner would have much trouble with Nog. Mir is better than Nog is (not Nog in his prime, Nog now), and we just saw how well he did against Lesner.

I've heard that the winner of the Velasquez/Carwin fight gets the next title shot. If Carwin is all that he's hyped up to be he will win that fight, and get his title shot.

I see Couture beating Nog, and then getting a rematch with Lesner. I'd watch it. He was doing very well before he caught the shot that dropped him.

dude Nogueria doesn't want to fight Lesnar thats why he threw his fight with Mir.
