I wish I could watch the DREAM fights legally. Some good fighting going on over there.

Watch the re-plays of the last Ultimate Fight Night.

Dos Anjos had a reeeeeeeediculous almost-submission that surely wrecked Griffin's knee. And still lost the fight, because he's an idiot.

Condit-Kampmann: absolute hellcats from start to finish. The pace is incredible and the skill top-notch. I'd call this a Fight of the Year candidate.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

We recorded the Fight Night and watched it over coffee this morning...

That leglock looked nasty indeed. For a while I was sure Griffin was going to drop, a la Patrick Cote. The way it started to buckle a few times looked like something was seriously wrong with it but Griffin said after the fight that he didn't think there was any significant damage. You'd think Dos Anjos would have went for some leg kicks when Griffin was really struggling to put weight on it...

And agreed on Kampmann-Condit - they did not disappoint. Definitely fight of the night :) It'll be interesting to see how they fare against some of the established welterweights.

Also, it was nice to see Junie get submitted in the first round though I'm irritated that I had to watch that fight rather than Tibau-Stephens or Almeida's fight ;) ...It sucks that these TUF guys go straight to the main card when better, more deserving fighters languish on the undercard.

So now I'm going to go look for videos of some of the prelims.

Oh, btw, anybody see that show on MTV with Jason Miller as the presenter - Bully Beatdown? Some people will hate it but it has its funny moments.

I have seen Griffin in some hellish looking leglocks before. He is one of my favorite fighters. For being built like a small tank with legs like trees he does have incredible flexibility. I have not heard of him being injured after the fight. He probably wasn't.

I didn't like the call on the Condit/Kampmann fight. The judges don't place enough value in BJJ. You may not be drawing blood throwing triangle attempts and armbar attempts, but it is being aggressive. You are also temporarily controlling your opponent. Go figure, they are boxing judges basically. Clueless when it comes to MMA. That being said I think Condit won that fight.

Raymond....I watch Dream on SOPCAST for free. It is piped in via the Worldwide Net from Japan. Because of that I believe it is legal to watch. www.sopcast.com I believe is the site where you can download the software.
Looking for books that hold a candle to the Malazan series or the Shanara series. PM me if you can recommend one. :)

So.

Macihida has the title shot - any thoughts? Personally, as i've often stated, I'm a fan, so hope he wins.

Also Anderson Silva's latest - I know the crowd was booing (which I thought was a little harsh), but my feelings on it were mixed.
I think he was a lot cagier than I've seen for quite a while.

Maybe a mental thing seen as he knew he had the chance to set the record for most UFC wins in a row?
I'd say its a possibility. Certainly Anderson seemed happy to do enough to win and no more.
As such it was a pretty damn effective strategy. Not the greatest to watch admittedly, but it worked.

Leites.... didn't seem to have an answer to Anderson. And his constant flopping to the floor - sheesh.

It's also been confirmed - Anderson's next fight ISN'T a drop down to fight GSP,
which had been mooted. He's going up to light-heavy again, only he's fighting Griffin. That should be a good one.
I'd probably give the edge to Griffin there though.

theres no way griffin will beat Anderson, Anderson is just way to good for just about anyone in the ufc.

Silva did a great job trying to deal with Leites. As Liddell said, Leites ran away from him constantly. It was like the Quarry-Starnes fight all over again. Silva tried his best to get in there and get something going, but Leites wasn't having it.

The way Leites went about it looked like that day I went through BJJ and MMA practice with the only migraine I've had in my life. Feeling like I wanted to simultaneously puke, pass out and groan in pain was brutal and it was all I could do to maintain position, much less mount any offense.

I don't know if Silva beats Machida (assuming they ever actually fought). Evans might push him too in the striking areas (not on the ground though). He'd also be at a truly considerable size disadvantage against just about every heavyweight in the UFC. I think Couture came in for the Lesnar fight at 235 or something and Silva's walk around weight is 220. He'd be outweighed by at least 20 pounds and wouldn't be as quick as he normally is.

Plus this is MMA - you can't ever truly count anyone out. GSP-Serra proved that once and for all. Griffin has a shot, even if a small one.

Griffin has a shot, but it's not great. I'm a fan, but here's the deal. Griffin wins fights by having a great chin and the ability to be tough and ignore punishment. Silva wins fights by knocking out tough guys with great chins. (See Leben, Chris.) Silva's last couple fights were subpar, but it's debatable how much of that was his fault.

Griffin isn't going to catch Silva in a sub. He isn't going to drop him with one perfect shot. He probably won't outbox him. His one chance of winning is to do what he does best, keep grinding on people until they break. Unfortunately, this is going to require him coming at Silva relentlessly. This is when Silva puts people to sleep.

Of course, I could be wrong. Anything can happen in MMA. This is the most likely scenario as I see it. (For the record, I am a fan of both fighters, for different reasons.)

Liddell says he's not done. One more fight on his contract, if Dana will let him fight. He also says he's open to the idea of fighting for another organization afterwards. Chuck is one of my fvorite fighters ever, but this scares me. I don't think he has the head movement to slip punches like he used to, and I think his chin might be irreparably compromised.

I think he could have success though. He did just beat Wandi 2 fights ago. I say give Liddell Rich Franklin. No shame if he loses, but I think it's an interesting matchup he could win. After that, maybe he would be satisfied.

I have mixed feelings about liddell continueing to fight, I would love to see him redeem himseelf, but don't want to see him tarnish a great career even more,

I don't think griffin can do it, but maybe ill be proved wrong, at the very least it will not be a boring fight this time

I just started a thread in the games forum discussing the new UFC game if anyone is interested. I figured it would be a better place to discuss it than here.

Who's watching the fights? Who do you like? Machida/Evans could be fight of the year, or horribly boring.

Anyone hear about the Art of War mma organization in China? Some interesting, unique rules that could work well, or fail.

i'm recording it, it starts at 3am here.

was originally planning on staying up to watch it and crashing sunday, then remembered monday's a bank holiday.
so, record it, and on sunday night a few mates coming over for beers to watch the whole thing.

I'm rooting for Machida, i;ve explained repeatedly in this thread i'm a fanboy when it comes to him.

really think Hughes Serra could be interesting. granted neither of them is young, but the very real dislike Serra has for Hughes
adds a little something :p

sort of curious just to see how Sherk does too.

I hope Serra destroys Hughes. Doubt it will happen though.

I think Evans will win
and I think Hughes will win,

if i am going to be wrong about one of them which i most likely will then it will be the Evans vs Machida fight with Machida pulling out the win.

The only reason I say Evans is with watching both fighters, Evans seems to be more deadlier striker, with better knock out power, Machida usually goes to decision...

Rashad usually is on the losing side of his fights then pulls out a victory with the tko/ko....

I say Machida by KO. I think he's just fast enough to frustrate the extremely quick Evans into making a bad mistake like Thiago Silva did over those five rounds.

I don't know where I'll be watching this, but it should be a good time.

Injuries. Jackson had a broken jaw when he went up against Jardine and then there's a couple other nagging injuries that he elected to take care of as well.

But.... LYYYYYOOOOOOOTTOOOOO MAAAAAAACHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Sherk looked like he trained all the right counters and so on, but his arms were too gotdang short to actually pull them off. Sucked to be him for that fight.

do we have to spoiler??? tis over now right? and the dvd doesnt come out for months...

the Matt Hughes vs Matt Serra fight was a dissapointment... and to be honest i wanted hughes to win but i really dont think Serra diserved that loss, in my book that was a draw, especially with that take down at the end that serra got... I cant believed they gave all 3 rounds to hughes... oh well

WOW I believe its going to be a while before Machida looses the belt, I see him being similar to Anderson Silva, people just cant touch him and now he can go back to winning be decision now that he has the belt if need be... he is guaranteed fights now, and can fight how ever he wants... and the guy still has yet to loose a single round in the UFC, thats amazing... i cant believe how he just made Rashad look like an amateur... Rashad didnt set any effective offense up.

Frank Edgar looked sharp, very impressive, he made Sherk look foolish... Sherk deff should have stuck to taking him down, especially after he wasnt able to do anything the 1st round,

Good UFC PPV all in all, better then last months by far, but not as good as March's....
