I completely agree with the decision. It was close, but I had it called before the judges announced it.

I use Sherdog. Been part of the forum there since 2003, and although it has heaps and heaps of garbage, there is a huge amount of very knowledgabe fans who post there.

I was wrong with my Rampage/Griffin prediction. Now it'll be interesting who Griffin defends that title against first. I predict he won't defend it, and he'll never come near becoming champ again in the UFC :D

Looks like Liddell if he beats Evans. I don't think Forrest can beat him, but I didn't think Forrest would win his last two fights either. Did you agree with the decision No-God?

Was a good fight. Happy for Forrest. Rampage only countered and didn't really initiate anything himself, might be his leg hurt like a mo*. Can he punch, or what? I was sitting on the edge of my chair, not daring to look away thinking Forrest would go down any second. His chin is unbelievable.

I saw the fights in the Baltimore Inner Harbor Hooters. It was crowded as shit and the food wasn't great, but I was pretty hammered the entire time.

Tibau looks enormous for 155 and he's only 24. I thought Koschek looked a little uneasy with the vast amounts of blood Lytle was pouring out, but he did a great job in avoiding most of the big punches and dominating the ground game.

Griffin has a hell of a gotdang chin. Jackson definitely looked a little lethargic in the beginning, but he really worked through that leg injury to try and make something happen. Both are class fighters and class people.

Non-sequitur: me giving a backhanded compliment to the lady bartender (You look better in a hat) resulted in her giving me a free top shelf gin and tonic and some chicken tenders towards the end.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I do think Rampage should have won because I think he (just) won round 5. But the fight was so close, that I really can't complain. A fight that close could really go either way.

See, I think Forrest took it, but it was super close. If it had gone to rampage I would have understood. I don't see why so many people got their panties in a bunch thinking this was the worst decision ever.

I thought Bisping-Hamill was way more egregious.

Yeah, that was an iffy call. Strange that the only British judge gave it to Hamill.

Completely off-topic -- but have any of you guys heard of Rosi Sexton? She's a British fighter, was with BodogFight, recently signed an exclusive for Elite FC in the US in order to get more fights. Look out for her, she's bloody good, and a good friend of mine. Plus, I've rolled with her a few times, which may well be my only claim to fame :D
It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Haven't heard of her, but my knowledge of female fighters is limited to about 3 or 4 of them. I like watching it though, some of those girls are mean! I wouldn't want to get hit by the girl who broke Kim Couture's jaw. That shit would suck.

It definitely was.

See, I think the big controversy over Griffin/Rampage is that, historically, close title fights usually swing in the champion's direction. One example of this was Wanderlei Silva's PRIDE Middleweight Title bout against Ricardo Arona (rematch after losing in a tournament). Arona and Silva fought an extremely close fight, with Arona edging forward. Silva took the split decision, because the champion usually gets the benefit of the doubt. I think Rampage should have gotten the benefit of the doubt, but it's not the end of the world that he didn't.

I imagine a Griffin/Liddel fight could turn into the biggest UFC fight/card in UFC history. Not because it's actually matching the Iceman with a legitimate opponent, but because both guys are very popular.

I have to say Forrest is looking more and more like a legit opponent. Regardless of the decision, he gave Rampage all he could handle, and the fight before he choked out a top ranked guy. Do I think Chuck would beat him? Yes. However, I thought Forrest would get his ass kicked in his last two fights, and he surprised me.

i only think chuck could beat forrest if he really put his mind towards the fight.

honestly, id rather see forrest destroy lyoto machida. do it in september or early october and you can squeeze in liddell/griffin for new years. schedule it for october or so and get liddell/griffin on the superbowl weekend fight

I don't know that Forrest/Machida would be a very exciting fight. They both utilize a "circle, strike, and retreat" style. It's not the most exciting style to watch, though it is very effective. If they're both doing it, it could be a very slow fight. Unless Forrest decides to fight old school and just charge in swinging, in which cae he might get KOd real quick-like.

Either way, I think Machida takes that fight, but Forrest is making a career out of beating people he shouldn't.

Anyways, I think Machida is one fight away from a title fight. He needs to beat a real contender to validate his stellar record. Tito was not a real contender. Let Machida beat Liddell, Wandi, Rampage, someone like that, and I think he'll deserve the title shot. He's got the skilll, just needs one more big name on his resume.

I have to ask this - am i the only person on the board who actively LIKES watching Lyoto Machida fight?

I know people make a fuss about him darting in and out, but honestly, to win without getting hit like he does is, to me at least, the absolute epitome of a standing game.

I truly believe he is a great fighter because of the way he fights, whereas i've seen other boards where his fighting style is dismissed out of hand.

thoughts? or am i alone on this?
meh. Link was dead :(

I am impressed with his skill, and the effectiveness of his style, and enjoy his performances for those reasons. It doesn't get me on the edge of my seat though. There are a lot of guys who are not as skilled of fighters who are more exciting to watch.
