@amphibian: It's no one fault but his own that the cage hurt CroCop. He admitted that he never trained with a cage before entering the UFC, as he didn't think it make much of a difference. Wrong. If he comes back, which he said he will, I expect him to fix that. Proble with CroCop is though, he's one of the old school guys with one dominant style. His takedown defense isn't what it needs to be, and his groundgame is not too impressive. I think he has submitted people before, but on the bottom he typically looks like he's just trying to hold on and avoid damage and hop for a restart. A sprawl and brawl fighter has to have a good sprawl, and be able to get back up if taken down.

Yump.

Rumor has it if Anderson Silva is successful in his LHW debut, there might be a Silva/Liddell fight in the works. If so, I predict one of the most successful UFC PPVs ever. I would love to see that fight.

Wow. That'd be unspeakably awesome. Wow.

No-God, I'll reserve some small measure of doubt because this is the Innernets, but your stated achievements are impressive. Keep it up and I hope to build something similar in the future. Are you gi or no-gi?

I was worried that Silva would be way undersized at 205, but Joe Rogan just said that he walks around at 215. No wonder he's stronger than everyone at 185. That's a pretty steep weight cut. He'l actually have to cut a little bit to make 205.

liddell/silva was speculated from the start before the new fight night was added. would have been a better draw for sure, but i guess they want to save it for a PPV

Also I don't know if Liddell is healed enough to fight yet. His fight with Evans is still pretty far away. They also probably don't want to scratch that fight again.

Regarding the Sadollah/Dollaway fight: Dollaway made an absolutely retarded move sticking his arm in there and Sadollah immediately capitalized. Wow.

Yeah, after the last time they fought you would have thought he would have worked on his armbar defense. if you're gong to be a gnp fighter, you've got to have some submission defense.

You have to be very good at one other phase of the game in order to beat a jack of all trades. Using your Arona example, he'd have to take Jardine down to get him on the ground to put the fight on his terms. If Jardine's takedown defense is consistently better than Arona's takedowns, he might be able to finish it standing or take the win on points.

Randy Couture is a great example of someone in between the jack and the master. He wants the fight to move into situations where he's better than the opponent (usually clinch and g'n'p) and he's good enough in his weaker areas that he can actually push the fight there.

I'm a fan of the cage - even if it's completely decimated CroCop's game.

Although I agree, somebody who IS a master of one thing is usually good at keeping the fight there. Using the Arona example, he has possibly the best takedowns in the sport. He can't strike worth crap (except amazing leg kicks which floored Wanderlei Silva, and a right uppercut that stunned Henderson), but his takedowns are second to none and he's extremely skilled on the ground. So, to continue using him as an example, he's skilled in one thing (grappling) and he can get the fight to the ground. Against someone who is a 'jack of all trades' and who isn't skilled enough in counters or other methods of fighting, Arona would make short work on them. Examples of this would be Arona vs Sakuraba (Saku is very well rounded, but got completely sodomized by Arona the entire fight), or Arona vs Murilo Rua (Rua is very skilled at everything, but he wasn't skilled enough at grappling to stop Arona from working the groundgame).

Yeah, if you're super good at one aspect of the game, in all the other aspects you only have to be good enough to negate what the other guy wants to do.

Exactly.

Dean Lister is out of ADCC (was facing Roger Gracie in a submission wrestling superfight). He has a torn bicep. :D

That sounds like such a painful injury, and tough to come back from. Was it a complete tear?

I want to go ahead and make a future mega fight prediction, Forrest Griffin vs. Chuck Liddell, If Chuck beats Evans and Forrest loses to Jackson, it might happen soon. I mean surely you remember that Liddell was Forrests coach season one of TUF. One word.....EPIC. I know it may never happen, but a boy can dream right.
THIS IS HOW I ROLL BITCHES!!!

It would be a great fight, but i believe Dana said if Chuck beats Evans, he gets a title shot. if Forrest loses to Rampage, it won't happen, but if he beats Rampage, the fight will go down exactly like that.

UFC decided to be cool and post the fight between Dustin Hazelett and Josh Burkman from the TUF finale on the UFC site for free. It got fight of the night and submission of the night. Some sick BJJ, worth watching. UFC.com, then you have to click on "view all videos" under the video center on the right side of the screen.

Not sure if it was a complete tear or not. Just heard that ADCC is looking for a replacement for Lister.

I will admit, if they somehow manage to put together a Roger Gracie vs Ricardo Arona superfight, I might accidently cream myself.

Finally saw the TUF finale. Im going to grow a beard like Tanner's. Not that it helped him. Grove had a nice clinch. I wonder why not more fighters use the MT clinch with elbows and balance breaking. A Silva does it devastatingly (knees more than elbows). Is it difficult to do it and defend takedowns?

From what I've seen, if you're not really good at it, you're open to the other person throwing hooks around your arms and into your face. Takedowns might be a problem too.

bodyhair is vastly underused in MMA. being the greasy pollock guido i am, i usually sport a scraggily beard(little less than leonidas in 300) and got a nice hairy back/chest/belly. works nicely when rolling because its so disgusting mashing my hairy, sweaty manbreasts in someones face when im in guard or halfguard. i also think it makes me look like a semi-homeless/crazy person and that adds to my flair. kind of the arlovski effect without the vampire fangs and more hair
