That's true, but I just don't understand how you can put that much preassure as to break a humerus but not dislocate anything, but I aint no expert or anything though.

UFC 141 ... can we finally end the legend of Brock Lesnar (and that fat fucker can go back to the WWF/WWE)!

Fat? I think Lesnar has less than 15% body fat at 280 some pounds.

Anyways, I don't think he retires for real. Some time off for chilling out on the farm a la Matt Hughes and BJ Penn would serve him well. Maybe the Fertitas get him back by next summer for a second Carwin or third Mir fight.

I think he's done. I think the first thought through his mind when he got tagged by that kick was "oh shit he's ruputured my intestines!"

I enjoyed him being a part of MMA. No matter what, at least he was interesting.

142 was awesome.

I didn't have the same feeling that every fight was epic like I did with 129, but that was a fairly good card from top to bottom for the MMA aficionado.

Also, those a-holes who shine green lasers in athletes' faces need to be identified and immediately kicked out. It happens in soccer games and it's happening in MMA now.

So pumped for Condit/Diaz. And Barao/Jorgensen as well.

Good job Condit. Close fight but I think he won it. Diaz is a crybaby and a drama queen and is not really retired.

Agreed. I gave Diaz Round 2 and Round 5.

I'm hesitant to call Diaz a crybaby because he really, really, really cares about winning. When your brother is telling you "You're up on rounds" and you hear the judges' decision go against you, some big emotions are going to come up. I'll take the anger and the hurt over someone who's already thinking how to spend the money.

Yeah Condit fought a very smart fight and got the W.

I was kind of dissapointed with the new intro sequence. It wasn't that bad but I was expecting something more epic.

Oh and Werdum really impressed me. He put a beatdown on Big Country.

Fabdoom's ever evolving stand up is really impressive coupled with his ground game means he could be a force in the HW division.

I thought the decision was fair in the Condit/Diaz fight as Carlos fought a great strategic fight that really flustered Nick.

I almost didn't buy this card but I'm glad I did.

Kos is still one of the stupidest fighters around and still has never learned to use his wrestling as a weapon to set up his stand up game- he's now just pretty much a poor man's Dan Henderson and only looks for the right hand KO. For a guy that has equal or better wrestling than GSP for to not have learned how to blend that in with his skillset to set up other facets at this point in his career is just criminal.

When two fighters go five rounds as equal as Diaz and Condit it doesn't really matter to me who the judges think won, even Diaz' fans think it was something like 48-47. To be a fighter you really really have to care about winning, so some of them get almost psychotic cause they believe in themselves so much.

Nelson is incredibly tough, even Dos Santos couldnt knock him out. Everyone looks too big for him in that division, but that belly might be so much part of who he is that it isnt worth it to go lighter. He will speak slurred when he's older though.

Man completely juiced for UFC 144 coming up tonight- 2 hours of prelims on FX and then a 4 hour main fight card with 6 fights. Really can't wait for Bendo-Edgar which I think will be another classic war. I think Edgar will pull it out but I'm just getting a weird feeling that Ben comes in and shocks everyone will a TKO win. Really curious to see Sexyama's gas tank at 170 and whether it will get worse as it has been at 185 or help him out. Striking-wise Shields is going to have to take him down constantly or try to to avoid too much damage. Akiyama has great judo so I'm looking forward to see how he will use that against Jake.

Either way tons of fights to watch tonight! :smoke:

Best undercard in a loooooong while.

Even if Gomi looked like ass.

Kid needs to get out of Japan and go train with some great technical grapplers. Toronto or Jim Miller's NJ camp would be perfect for him.

By complete accident i came across the MMA on TV last night (live from Sydney apparently), and it was very enjoyable. The new flyweight division was interesting, though to my untrained eye I couldn't agree with the result from the Ian McCall/Demetrious Johnson bout. (i won't say the result here in case someone has DVR'd it)

The main event of the night was a fine contest between Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann which to'd and fro'd through all 3 rounds, and then topped it off with a great finish (again I won't spoil the result for anyone who might yet watch it). It really highlighted how skilled these guys are, when you have a guy clearly stunned from kicks and punches, and yet still has the instinct and training (muscle memory) to pull off a submission as he's being taken to the ground. Even though I have seen it before, it is still incredible to see.

While a massive swinging counterpunch is also impressive, I just think this takes much more skill.

As a side note, I also accidentally came across some European MMA last night during some channel surfing (apparently it was an event on in Ireland), and saw an quite impressive performance from an Icelandic fighter called Gunnar Nelson. Any of you serious MMA followers heard of him, and is he actually any good?

Gunnar Nelson is a young prospect. He's a VERY good Brazilian jiu jitsu submission grappler (almost top of the line in world-class competitions). His MMA career has been moving very slow due to him living way up North and not taking fights all that often, but he is watched by many as a potential superstar. You lucked onto a great find.

UFC on FX 2 (the Aussie event you watched) was rather entertaining. The event before it, UFC 144, was one of the best cards I've ever seen. I'd consider it one of the finest three overall.

The flyweights are awesome. Hyper-fast, hyper-skilled and just exemplary displays of what it means to be a mixed martial arts athlete in this day and age. I doubt we are ever going to get flyweights gassing out big time like at so many other weight classes.

Aussies make for terrific crowds. I'd rank 'em third behind the Japanese at UFC 144 and the Brazilians at the last couple Brazilian UFCs (although the Brazilians lose points for having some jerk shine a green laser in some of the fighters' faces). The Canadians are almost neck and neck with the Aussies, but the Down Under People know great skill, great heart and come righteously rowdy themselves. Great sporting culture y'all got there.

The Mighty Mouse - Uncle Creepy fight was actually scored a majority decision draw. Somebody messed up when writing all 3 judges cards onto the one they give buffer. That really is a piss off, I would have loved to see the sudden death round. Everyone got robbed...I guess the're going to have an immediate rematch. Sucks that Benavidez has to wait this long now.

That was a major screw up on the the totaling of round scoring- UFC made good though and gave McCall his win bonus. It's completely ironic that they put the sudden death round just for these 2 matches to avoid a draw and just because of a adding mistake they have to do the instant rematch and Benadidez has to wait on that. The flyweight division is going to be fantastic watch with the crazy great fast pace action they will bring to the table in future events. Alves really screwed the pooch in that 3rd round after controlling the majority of the fight and was well on his way to win. Great stuff from Martin to capitalize on the mistake and pull the win out.

Checking out the Strikeforce prelims on Showtime right now and looking forward to the Tate-Rousey fight.
