Shadow Owl

Hannan Mosag not believe that Brys Beddict was to return and serve House Shadow because he saw the shadow of an owl fly before him:
"The Shadow of a gliding owl slipped over the glistening slide, crossing his intended path, and Hannan Mosag froze.
No. It cannot be. There is no-one alive to claim that title.
He is dead.
He was not even Tiste Edur.
(page 313)
When Trull is killed by Sirryn, Sirryn thinks that it was easy sneaking across the arena to Trull because his shadow is directly beneath him. However an Owl's shadow flys by infront of Trull right before he stabs him.
So is this a sign? Does this mean that the Shadow Owl omen mean that Trull is the new Mortal Sword of High House Shadow?
Or is it that the Shadow Owl is a sign of rebirth and that Trull will be born again.
I just don't think this Shadow Owl is just something slipped in, I think it is an omen of Trulls future in the books.

Interesting find. I think we haven't heard the last abut Trull, for sure. The rest I am just too confused to comment on.

When reading the book, I got the feeling that the shadow owl was associated with the Errant.

I agree with MUC1, even the Errant mentioned making widows after Trulls death. *sniffle*

But the Shadow Owl was originally an omen for Hannan Mosag about the rise of a new Mortal Sword or who the Mortal Sword was.

No surprise Hannan Mosag saw an owl. It was a vision sent by Errant, who wanted Brys Bedict for himself (or for Feather Witch, whatever)

Like Coldnight says. The Errant wanted Brys, and didn't give a hoot about him.
He sent Hannan Mosag owl visions, because Hanan Mosag is a twit. And Sirryn was a twit too.

We've seen enough ascensions/resurrections follow on deaths that the case for Trull's return is almost trite.
Plus Shadowthrone, tho' minimally, was in the game in RG. How do we know the owl visions were Errant's and not ST's?
- Abyss, who, who?

We don't know that the visions of the owl were sent by the Errant. In fact I'm more certain they weren't instead of were.
What gain would the Errant get from getting the Edur to get Brys when he could have sent someone just as easily. And why would he almost get Sirryn caught in the act before stabbing Trull by sending an Owl. The Owl meant Sirryn was more likely to get caught not less. So I doubt it was the Errant because he nudged the game the other way.

I admit to not thinking it through. I just needed to agree with someone in order to get the first owl puns in.

Genius. (:
Is it me, or do the Edur not cast shadows anyway?

Why not? Errant wanted both, Udinass and Brys. Tried to claim both of them. The main reason Feather With chose them (apart from their skills), was because she thought she woud have some kind of power over both of them (finger and love

Edur were those someone-people whom Errant could send easily

Owl showed up because Errant's power was in action. Probably it was only Sirryn who's seen it.

Hannan Mosag was in a pure piece of KE when he had his vision. I doubt the Errant had influence on the misshapen Ceda during that time.
