Who'd win a pitched battle

What? All fighting at the same time?
Get to the chopper!

No. What I meant was who would be the toughest unit in a battle. Who would you hire if you were a general?

I'm voting for the crimson guard. A few Avowed is a few too many, even for the seguleh.

seguleh arent a company are they? i went for the first sword. Read NOK and i reckon temper and ferrule could take out Skinner and the rest.

You actually remember something from NoK
I'd go for the Crimson Guard, because the Seguleh are indeed a society, not a military unit, and because the rest of the list are small fish in comparison to the Crimson Guard. Maybe the sword comes close, but they are outnumbered.

Seguleh absolutely annihilate everyone else. Partly due to numbers, and partly due to the relative consistency of their skill.

I'd go for the Crimson Guard or Dassem's First Sword. Tough call.
That's ignoring the Seguleh, because they're clearly not a military company, they're an entire culture.

We may see when the Seguleh defend Darujhistan. I can't wait for that fight.

I went for the Mott Irregulars. Even though I hate them -Hate them!-, crump most of all, if I was a general in Erikson's world I would hire them straight away, as Steve would obviously see any battle they're involved in as a hilarious outlet for some military comic relief, with them winning the day in some absurd manner such as trumping the enemy to death whilst they sing some mindless song about High Marshal Plumpy'dump. All the time making mention to them bogging down the Bridgebunners in Black Dog Forest -Zing!
Although the entire Seguleh culture would be formidable I guess :D

Of course, there are no airborne units... except the moranth with their cussers.

What The Black Company isn't on there? Well in that case I vote for The Crimson Guard

It's a tough call.
Mott have the Bole Brothers, who could whipe out most of the others' mages.
Bonehunters and Bridgebruners are baddass, have good mages and good sappers, not to mention swtiched on soldiers.
Moranth have aerial advantage.
Crimson Guard have the Avowed.
Seguleh (If we're talking armies, then they must have one) have the obvious strengths of skill -- though we've seen that they are vunerable to magic.
The Grey Swords are hard, followers of a god, complete wth Mortal Swords and all.
The Red Blades could be the weak link ...
I'm going for the Bridgeburners. They ascended after all.

The problem I have with the bridge burners is yeah there bad ass... but they still got there asses wooped at the end. I imagine if The Segulah or Crimson Guard would have been at Coral then things might have gone differently.
Besides strong mages and crazy sappers the the BBs apeared to be pretty much average soldiers with alot of heart.

I don't know (it's a lie, I do know who did it) who voted for the grey swords, but they got massacred by the Letherii. Not really a proof of extreme fighting skills huh.

They got massacred by sorcery, as it clearly said in the book. So it's absolutely nothing to do with fighting skills.

thats a good question are we talkign about grey swords pre capustan or post capustan coz it make a big difference. pre capustan they were very good . post capustan not so much.
i mean if toc was their mortal sword then he wasn tpeticularly good was he. i mean yes he was pretty good with a bow but it didnt tak ethat many people to kill him.

Pretty good meaning headshotting a mage over his shoulder while bareback on a horse jumping over a ditch? I'd like to see what constitutes awesome in that case;)
