If you want a few minutes of fun, try to think of something insanely badass for Karsa to say when he sees Rhulad resurrect for another round. I can't really think of anything good, but I'm trying.

how about 'The Bastard likes my sword so much, even death is no obstacle to his need of being penetrated by it again' or he could just make an incredibly huge boast straight off, or even insulting the way Rhulad looks after in comparison to how he looks beforehand. many possibilities. Difficult to come up with anything good.

Either something brief about the tedium of needing to kill him again, or something involving the words 'witness' and 'child'. Possibly both.

Has anyone ever thought of possibility that maybe Fid's going to be the champion who finally kills Rhulad? I mean, all it takes is a well aimed sharper and a huge "ka-BOOOM" and I don't think there would be any magic in the world strong enough to get Rhulad into one piece again.

(Unless, of course, he's like this eeeeevil-advanced-model-Terminator guy who gives Arnie trouble in "Terminator II"...)

I read somewhere about wanting to start a thread where spoilers can be posted...the answer is no:)
I've also asked Pat to refrain from getting involved in the discussion. If he gets involved information is going to slip out in one form or another, esp if members pressure him into it or if he thinks its not a spoiler but that's because he already read the book lol.
You have maybe 1.5 months till the UK release and if you guys check your local bookstore you're bound to find it on shelves at least 2 weeks in advance so a month even. Thus relax:p But speculate away on the info that Pat provided on his blog.

Ah Duckman, you're no fun at all... If you win a copy of REAPER'S GALE, you're getting a Goodkind instead!:D That'll teach you!!!

If you really wanted to show me, you'd send me your RSURS ARC! That would make it a life lesson I'd never forget :p

As to the Last Champion Vs. Rhulad question, for some reason, I have the feeling that Icarium will get sidetracked before he steps in the ring and won't ever go up against the Emperor. Besides, I'd rather see Karsa die than Icarium.

Doesn't Karsa's sword hold the spirits of the dead? If so, would that affect Rhulad if he were to defeat him?

Only two dead. The rest get to follow Karsa around, though that's an equally interesting proposition. I'd hedge that the CG's enchantment on the sword may take precedence, though. Since iirc there's implication that the CG also had something to do with Karsa's curse.

I originally had my doubts that Karsa would ever face Rhulad, but I think the wording of pat's review kind of ends it. I'd thought he would get royally pissed at the subjugation of the Tarthenal, and lead them in a war of liberation ...

Even if Karsa doesn't end up chaining Rhuald to his impressive collection of souls, he has a pretty nasty habit of lobbing off heads (In HoC, when Karsa is captured on the ship, he enters a dream world. While there he stands upon a mountain of bones and the souls of those he killed were chained behind him. He makes notice of how many of the souls are headless). I'd personally love to see Rhulad's head roll. Don't think he'd be getting back up after that.

:D One could always quote the "classics":
- "There can be only one!" (actually, this whole idea of Rhulad vs Champions does remind me of a twisted Highlander-copy where the Kurgan-lookalike is the "good guy")
- "Your brother's soul is mine; you will be next!"

Or he could quote Richard Rahl... (now, that would be a twisted world, indeed)

Can Rhulad comes back to life if Karsa doesn't remove the sword from his body?

What about Master of the Deck vs. Master of the Tiles? Pat's hints leave room for that...

"Clearly, i need to kill you harder."

"Your God must not like you very much."

"This time after i kill you i'm going to eat you."

- Abyss, likes this game.

Thanks for the review, pat! I'm sore to get my hands on this book...I think the only way Quick Ben will die is if, in facing Rhulad, he has to summon Tayschrenn. However, there are other "unlikely but huge" deaths that I've thought about since reading this thread yesterday - Tavore, in particular, is my choice. Though, all things considered, that may be because I have no desire to see Cotillion/Karsa/Icarium die.

I've been re-reading MT as of late and will probably post an analysis over the weekend. I think I've found some pretty interesting stuff.

As you know, from now till the book is released, my lips are sealed!:)

Yet go ahead and speculate like there's no tomorrow!

well, karsa will kill the evil piggy bank, straight down the middle, and every time he stirs stab him again and again. Emperor Karsa with a living pinjata! endless hours of fun.

As for a fight between the tiles and the deck, seems like overkill, the errant should just roll over and dissapear he was useless like a neutral pansy. no fun!!

And really if fiddler, quick or paran dies i'm going to cry like a broken child for weeks. Even Kalam was one too many. not that he's dead....

One thought, won't the Crippled God have something to say, or do, when his two favourite pawns Karsa, his Knight, and Rhulad (who's basically an avatar of CG) are about to kill each other? Unless it is Karsa's destiny to win and claim the sword, as otherwise his involvement with Toblakai seems pretty pointless. [We can speculate that Rhulad was not part of CG's original plan and so remains disposable]
