Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

This episode had the most obtrusive product placement I've ever seen -- "oooo daddy, you're giving me the new Nissan? oooo" The same Nissan model featured in all the annoying commercials for the episode.

Finally saw the first ep. Yes, the obtrusive Nissan placement made me want to put my shoe through the TV screen too.
I knew Sark was appearing in the series but the way they did it was completely unexpected, so big kudos for that.
One gripe: I really hope Mr. Nakamura is coming back (even if it's just flashbacks). They got rid of him too fast. George Takei is totally underrated and underutilized as an actor, and I was really hoping he was in this series for the long haul. Also, the way he's offed is totally stupid. Somebody charges you from that far away, don't just stand there, get out of the way!
Oh well - here's hoping Season 2 lives up to the promise of Season 1...

OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

I too was disappointed at what happened to Mr. Nakamura. Mostly for the same reasons you mention. His presence added a sense of dignity to his scenes, and I enjoyed the father son relationship.
Who's this Sark?

David Anders, the guy playing "Takezo Kensei"
He originally appeared in the series "Alias" as villain Julian Sark, so those of us who remember him from that will probably always think of him as Sark.

Ah, I see, I was thinking I had missed something from season one that appeared to be be important!

I hope so, too. I read an article last week at the doctor's office that said this season will be structured differently, however. There will be two halves of the season, each with its own major storyline. The midseason hiatus will be devoted to one episode stories about new individuals with special powers, one of whom will be voted on to the regular series. While I might harrumph about the changed structure, if it helps the show gain and retain viewership to stay on the air...

Maya and Alejandro
Spoilers to follow
Okay so does Kensei have Claire's power from the beginning (how could he not have known about it??
), or is he like Peter, someone who absorbs powers?? Will he shed more light on Claire's ability? Is he skulking around killing Japanese businessmen?? Are all the Heroes his descendants?? Will the black-bearded Japanese fellow become a regular feature??? Meh. At least I don't find Kensei irritating anymore.
I wish I could say the same for Maya and Alejandro, grrr!!! What are they doing, setting her up to kill the new bad-guy?? So not worth a whole season of weepy Spanish over-acting!
And oh yeah, speaking of over-acting... god damn it, why the damn' Irish gang?? Why?? Why couldn't they cater to just one group at a time? The exaggerated accents, the cutesy way of talking... as if more episodes of Peter being dazed and confused wasn't bad enough.
And oh. Peter. Thank GOD he lost the hair. And I'm sure the fans appreciated getting to see his torso for a whole episode
I just hope he becomes cool again very quickly.
I really can't decide how I feel about the new season. I do know I'm v. happy Bennett and the Haitian are together again though

@ Trotts: When I initially saw it I was thinking that the brother had some sort of absorptive power. Your comment about the 'push and the pull' got me thinking they might be a "life" and "death' dichotomy, especially given the reaction of the mystic to reading Maya, and what happens with that aunt lady at the end.
@ Aimless: As far as Hiro's time travel I'm already slightly irritated. He has already hugely effected the timeline, and if I had not decided before while watching season one that I would not care too much about the time travel intricacies, I would be really frustrated. As it is I think it is something that the series does not need and is not helped by. Teleportation, and slowing time are already pretty over powered.

So, spoilers for the latest episode.
Why the fuck didn't Peter bring the fucking fury at the Irish dude? Irish man is holding all the secrets of my life, I have awesome super powers and just kicked Irish ass with it. But instead of thumping the ever loving shit out the dude and using telekinesis to grab the box from the fire, Peter just agrees to become the dude's bitch?
ARGH! BRING THE FUCKING FURY!

Yea Peter is quite disappointing so far, ugh. Take control!!!!!!
And for fucks sake Claire, look up! Even the dog figured it out.
Kenssei's power is similar to Claire, as far as we can tell, but then again Claire's stalker can fly just like Nathan. And Invisible man (cant remember his name) mentioned meeting lots of mutants, such as other empaths, so we can assume theres gonna be power duplication? Even though thats lame lol

still no super strength though... I'm thinking they thought that was too cliche... but common
And good point about Peter and the box, he wouldn't have even had to hurt the guy...

Yeah, but... Isn't it rather like... errm... he lost his memories and he can't remember what he can do or how he can do it? I mean, those displays of power we've seen after he woke up were like... as if he acted on instict, to protect himself (and the girl), without really comprehending what was happening to him... Maybe he isn't aware of the fact that he only has to snap his fingers to get the box.

I dunno though. When he blasted the Irish guys when they first found him, yea defineltly seemed like pure instinct. But getting free of the ropes, and helping the chick, he seemed to know how to do it, just not how he came about those powers.

Even so, if it all instinct, you would think that having a dude threatening to torch the only link to your past self would freak Peter enough for him to do something!
But oh well, just minor nitpick. I'm still digging the show and am excited for things to come together in future episodes!

I dont like you Peter. Just open the damn box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Peter falling for Irish gal, Claire falling for flyboy mkII, and Hiro crushin on the swordsmiths daughter. Too much lurvin. Did Hiro seriously stay in the past just for her? Or was there somethin subtle I missed.
And poor Sylar.

Yes, you could tell from the expression on his face and his misty eyes. The only subtlety is how the Caucasian Japanese hero, who has never demonstrated any particular martial arts abilities previously, managed to wipe out dozens of fierce ronin warriors after he discovers that he heals from knife and arrow wounds.
I watched the whole first season on DVD just before this season started and the number of commercials may drive me to do the same for season 2.
