So who's watching this? Who's given up on it? Who's loving it?

And SPOILER warning up to end of Fall/Dec 2006 in case you're behind...

I fall into the 'loving it' category. On the one hand, most of the plots, powers and character archetypes are nothing anyone who read a few years worth of X-men comics hasn't seen before.

On the other hand, imnsho they've done a brilliant job of creating realistic characters, who the viewer can empathize with, and realistic depictions of the situations that run from developing 'super' powers. I don't care that i've seen/read this story-type before, because i'm having fun seeing it again.

Throw in some genuinely fun plot twists (the Peter/Nathan power twist), some great acting (Hiro, Nikki/Jessica, Mr Bennet) and lots of eye candy for whichever way you swing and it's a reliably entertaining hour of TV.

Plus (and i think i'm echoing Longhorn's OT comment from the S60 thread here) the LadyByss, who is utterly not a sf fan, enjoys it, so it's watchable by (forgive me) those without a healthy dose of geek in their genes, which is a plus.

Sure, there are plot holes and illogic (Hiro's powers and control are all over the place; why can Peter predict the future when in contact with Issac but sees other events in his dreams; what was the deal with the comic book), and sure, some things are so predictable it's silly (i'm quite certain 98% of the viewers knew how Peter was going to not die facing Sylar), but so what? I'm having fun, dammit!

Amusingly, it's also NBC's only major hit of the 2006 season thus far.

- Abyss, wonders how many got the Kitty Pryde comment in ep 1.

You have Youtube.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I'm lovin' it too. Last episode was great.

As to your questions (SPOILER warning for all episodes):
"why can Peter predict the future when in contact with Issac but sees other events in his dreams; what was the deal with the comic book"

Peter I now believe has two powers. One, powerful visions of the future. Two, he mimics the powers other Heroes when around them. That is how he could paint the future around Isaac. Fly around Nathan, etc.

The comic book Hiro's got, is an issue of the comic book (9th Wonders) that Isaac draws. So it tells the future. Hiro got it from his first jump into the future I think. You know, the time he jumped to Isaac's apartment and he saw Isaac dead (with his brains removed a la Sylar) and he also saw the big explosion in NY actually happening (the event that Isaac has painted on his floor), then cops rushed into the apartment and I think Hiro picked up the comic book and then returned to his own time... so he has an advanced issue of the 9th Wonders that tells the future.

I like how Peter is balanced by Sylar. It seems obvious that those two will face off at some point with the same many powers that Sylar has collected, Peter mirroring the many powers that Sylar then has.

I like how Mr. Bennet went from the bad guy to the not so bad guy to the henchmen of the head of the mysterious badguyish organisation yet to be identified.

I like how they explained why the Cheerleader was so important in the last episode, and how Peter can't be there in the final moments to stop the explosion. The irony of him being the one most obsessed and driven with saving the world and he can't be there cause he'll then doom their cause.

I like a lot of things about Heroes.

I didn't wanna be the one to start this thread... I saw the pilot some time ago, and was so solidly hooked I saw eps 1-6 in one sitting. And then, the following day, I got saw the pilot again with some corridor-mates... and they got hooked, so we saw eps 1-6 in one sitting. Apart from Six Months Ago, I've loved every episode, in part because it all seems so familiar! The plot-twists feel natural (ie. predictable :p) rather than contrived and unnecessarily "interesting" à la Lost etc.

I love the actors, I love the characters, I love the humour, I esp. love the visuals and the music... I loved seeing Nathan escape Bennett and the Haitian in his PJs... :D Nathan's character is fucken AWESOME. As is Bennett's

And, of course, hotties abound.

Every single time I feel like the show's getting a bit dull or slow, it manages to make itself exciting again. It's got tons of story left in it, and I'm seriously miffed about this stupid break... I need the next episode NOW!!! *cries*

As I see it, Peter has the ability to bond with other people, like some mutant empath. That's why he could feel Nathan in the accident, and that's how he got into Simone's dad's dream. And I think that might also explain how he managed to dream about Sylar in his cell in this last episode!

Could he be one of Lindermann's men?

You know, I'm wondering if perhaps Nathan isn't supposed to fly off with Ted or whoever it is that explodes... and hmmm, if Peter can't be around Ted, then I guess Sylar trying to steal Ted's power might make things go Boom, huh?

I never read X-men so I don't know what an empath does. I don't remember when he got into Simone's dad's dream, so I can't comment on that. But I know Peter has had two visions/dreams that clearly told the future. First that he knew about the car accident where Nathan's wife got paralyzed. Second in the last episode when he dreamt of doomsday.

After reviewing the dream he had in the cell and the big one at the end. I think they are linked. If you stretch it a bit you can read into what Nathan says some of what the big vision tells him, that he "can't save the world" as Nathan says, he can't be there when Ted is to explode anyway. And they begin the same, with Nathan coming to get him out.
Maybe. :D

Perhaps. At least he is the best candidate for the big boss we have at the moment.

Interesting idea. I'd be ironic if Nathan were to save the day, sacrificing himself in the process. I'd always assumed that Claire would be the one though, cause of the "save the cheerleader, save the world". That she would be the only one able to get close to Ted, especially now that we know (I think we do anyway) that Peter can't get close to Ted without becoming him.

I think you are correct about Sylar and Ted's power. But I think Sylar would see that it wouldn't be wise to harvest that particular brain.

Ando was in Peter's big vision. But yeah I'd say they'll kill off Ando.

I haven't seen it, although it sounds good.

Keruli, an empath is generally someone who has psychic powers allowing them to share emotions and (sometimes) thoughts with other people. They can interact with the minds of other people. They can often enter, or manipulate dreams, share memories, feel someone's intentions, etc.

Spoiler warning unless you've watched the latest episode

What I would like to know is why Eden's persuasion power didn't work on Sylar.

And I think that DL, Micah and Nikki/Jessica are going to have a really interesting storyline in the rest of the show, especially with Micah, who is supposed to be really really smart and has the power to fix stuff.

I love this show it is awesome. It keeps me intrigued each and every week. Hiro is probably my favorite character. He is just so much fun it is the geeks ultimate dream come true to become a superhero.

I think that the dream Peter had of destroying the city is in fact him as when he gains that power he will be unable to control it.

Also have people been reading the comics on the heroes website that are released after each show and add a little to each story. http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/

The episodes can also be watched straight from the website for those that want a taster.

Good question re: Ted. I'm betting on Bennet's masters, since Homeland Security was so utterly ill equipped to deal with him. Or possibly Ted just escaped.

Internet rumours are abounding that Milo/Peter is leaving the show and that was his last ep. Anyone know otherwise? It would explain why Issac is suddenly cleaned up and taking on the out-of-his-depth-determined-to-do-the-right-thing role. Hope Pete's not leaving - i want to see what happens if he copies Jessica/Nikki.

Hiro/the sword/the t-rex scene could be during a time jump gone wrong. "I need to find that sword." LOL!

Sylar is VERY powerful (anyone remember him from 24, season 3?). He was probably just waiting for the right time to leave, and/or his next victim. Too bad about Eden, but aside from sheboinging Mo', her plotline was pretty much done.

So the Haitian has his own agenda. INT-eresting.

- Abyss, loves the show.

dammit!
the problem with Australia is that we are always the last ones to get anything. i just saw the promotion thing on Tv a couple of days ago - gonna be showing it next year.
dammit!
the only place that is worse is new Zealand - stuff literally never get there...
Question:

Does being the only sane person in the world make you insane?

If a tree falls in the woods and a deaf person saw it, does it make a sound?
