Ok, seen 7 eps now and really getting into it. One thing annoys me mightily and that is the damn voiceovers from Mohinder at the start and end of the episodes that try to pithy and profound and end up just being irritating.

Good show otherwise though. Glad I stuck with it after the crappy pilot.

I thought it was 'Shenkar' doing the VOs, but i tend to agree they are more of an irritation than actually adding anything to the show.

- Abyss, would really freak out if every day, he awoke, to a vaguely british sounding man, narrating the struggles and trials of this earthly realm, as sands thru the hourglass, these, are the days, of, our, lives.

PS- why do the Japs speak Japanese and Indians speak English (even back in India, even to the street kids)? Silly little plot holes annoy me so damn much!

Must be a rule that you can have only one foreign language per show, I guess. Otherwise you overload American brains with all that subtitling...
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Actually, I believe that the Indians speak English because there's going to be some technological lingo thrown around; the Japanese characters are mostly talking about meeting people, going to places and how to stop the bomb while Mohinder's talking about genetics and angsty father-son drama.

Also, the popularity of Arnold Schwartzenegger movies, Michael Jordan and America has pretty much changed South Asia to the point where just about everyone knows some English - even if it's only to say "Bulls rule! I'll be bahck. Did you read the latest Thomas Friedman article showing Indian business leaders as the next coming of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates?"
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

Yeah, I'll buy it when he's speaking to Mira or at uni, but on the street to a hustler who approaches him? To a kid playing football on the street? Rings very false. I should know, I grew up there...(not on the street, just in India).

So I've just seen the 'Six Months Ago' ep. How many more to go, considering this break you guys were talking about?

You've got one more to see, "Fallout", and then they start new ones somewhere in the middle of January.

Yep. I'm all caught up now. Very interesting. Was reading Wikipedia...apparently next ep has a new British hero called Claude joining the series. Wonder what his power will be.

Anyone else find it funny that genetic mutations are causing these powers, but Micah's power (presumably) has no resemblance to either of his parents'?

Well, and also, why are they all simultaneously developing these powers, even though they're all different ages? If it was purely genetic you'd think all would develop their powers in childhood or adolescence.

Anyone want to speculate on Mr. Bennett keeps the powers of people he's kidnapped in check (after they wake up from the drugging). Maybe that's his power...cancelling out other's powers?

I think most of the time it's the Haitian messing with people, not Bennet.

The question mark is Sylar's cage, which Bennet seemed to think would surpress brain-eating dude without the haitian, but that, i imagine, would be tech, not powers.

- Abyss, needs more sinister eyeglasses.

I caught up with this a few weeks back. Great show.

A nice preview for the second half of the season, featuring a brief glimpse of Ecclestone as Claude the Invisible Man. Oh yeah, and George 'Mr. Sulu' Takei is going to cameo as Hiro's dad in two episodes! :D

We've had, "Save the cheerleader, save the world." The new catchphrase for the next story arc is:

Quote

"Are you on the list?"

Sounds like a crappy ad for a MySpace clone.

Sorry to join this thread so late. Keruli will tell you I'm also a big fan of the show, and am eagerly awaiting the January eps (only one, or several?).

Does anyone here know the prevalence of English in India? I've never asked any Indians about it, but it seems logical that English would be pretty common. But I agree with Falco--is it common enough that everyone speaks it to everyone else?

Anyway, I think it's a little odd that Sylar waited until Eden was there to make his move. Maybe it's just because she was going to kill him (you think?), but it seems like if he could have broken the cage and caught Bennett, he would have. Absorbing Claire's power/brain would be pretty cool. I mean, if you were a psychopath who liked cutting open heads and eating brains to get power, and not an average person who thought that was pretty gross and rather rude to do to a cheerleader.

Hehe. Though I must say, with Mr. Bennet saying it, it sounds creepy cool.

Yup, it's true, I know for a fact that Sirius is a big Heroes fan. :D

Even after reading that, and considering India's history, it feels strange that english would be commonly spoken in India.

Having be born and raised for a while in New Delhi, and being a regular visitor to family there and in Kolkata (Calcutta), would you people mind if I put myself as an knowledgeable authority on this topic?

English is known, taught in schools and fairly fluently spoken by the middle-class and above. That's 200 million or so people- its certainly not out of place as the medium of a university lecture or being spoken by lecturers between themselves, or scientists or their families. However, it is unlikely to be the first choice of language before Tamil (as the only city in India we've seen is Chennai (Madras) and that is the local language). At street level, amongst the poor, at best a few words would be known, at worst none at all. And it certainly would not be the language people conversed in.

Ok but back on topic...

Oh, right:
MASSIVE OMG HEROES SPOILERS
WILL DEFECATE SPOILERS DIRECTLY
INTO YOUR BRAIN ANDOR KIDNEY SPOILERS
SPOILERS NAZIS SHARKS SPOILERS HIP-HOP GANGSTA
POPPING CAPS STYLE SPOILERS

...Up to date as of today, is it just me, or is Hiro and Ando's plotlines just going off in random circles that go nowhere. Seriously nowhere. Like the big nowhere in the middle of nowhere in Nowheresville, USA. The waitress thing... cute but yawn. The trip back to NYC, so what, they had already met Issac. The thing with his dad - look, nice to see George Takai get work, but when a gag license plate is the high point of a plotline, something is missing. The sword thing... oh my god, he doesn't need, the, frikkin, sword, he NEEDS A BLOODY POINT. Right through his heart lungs and ears. Just kill him already. I'm bored. Ando deserves to shag Nikki just for putting up with all this crap.

I am, however, enjoying the adventures of Peter and his new Yoda.

Also, Nikkica as a hitwoman rocks - her thing v. Matt last week was only missing maybe ninjas and a t-rex to have been cooler. I'm bothered by how DL is just overlooking how she shot him twice with a sniper rifle, kicked his ass like twice, broke his arm and threw their son through a tree a couple of weeks ago, tho'. Maybe the post-prison sex is just that mind-blowingly good that he's willing to let it go. (as an aside, if Nikki and Jessica switch up control of the body mid coitus, does it count as a menage-a-trois?)

The whole Clare/Daddy Bennet thing is great. I love how you don't know whether he's a good guy with touch love tendencies, or like Hitler in horn-rim glasses and a bad suit. And Hayden Psomething is realy a fun actress to watch. Their interaction is equal parts classic father v daughter conflict and oh, i'm pissed that daddy is a potentially evil conspiracy dude who gave mommy brain damage when his enigmatic haitian lackey used her head like an Etch-a-sketch (google it if you don't know).

Sylar is a great baddy, but hello, Mohinder, paging Dr Mo... that dude with you is eeeeeevil. Did the headaches, smell of death from his kitchen and weird tendency to speak like Baelzebub not give it away?

Anyrate, my impatience to see Hiro and Ando fed into a woodchipper is offset by my otherwise love for the series.

- Abyss, always wondered about the menage thing generally...

I think the thing with the waitress was to spread a little doubt about going back to change the future. Destiny and all that. The thing with his dad was just to get the sister in. Asian girls are always a perk in any TV series.

And no, it doesn't count as a threesome. Unless you're gnostic, like that Sarlin-guy. But then you could just walk out on a starry night and have the biggest sexual orgy in history.
Legalise drugs! And murder!
