Hey everyone,
In my copy of memories of ice the glossary lists dassem ultor as the knight of high house death. I just finished rereading MOI and thought it sounded more like baudin who helped inter the mhybe, but maybe he's the soldier or something.
HIGH HOUSE DEATH
King ( Hood )
Queen
Knight ( once Dassem Ultor )
Magi
Herald
Soldier
Spinner
Mason
Virgin
That's how it's listed in my copy.
Maybe Dassem's been released from the house by Hood and Baudin's the new Knight.
I'm not really one for much speculation, but whoever he is, Traveller definitely kicks some serious a**.

Well you actually copied down the word "once," so I don't understand why you don't understand. "Once Dassem Ultor" means it used to be Dassem Ultor. Simple as that. It was actually explained explicitly (I forget when, but I'm thinking it was a Whiskeyjack-Dujek conversation in MoI) that Dassem renounced his position of Knight shortly before his "death" at Y'Ghatan. There's no mystery here.
As for why it doesn't say Baudin in the glossary of MoI - the glossary for each book lists only the positions known at the start of the book. Since we didn't know Baudin was the new Knight of Death when we first opened MoI - in fact he was still living at the start of the book - the glossary does not mention that info.
If you were to look at the glossary of HoC, you would see the entry under "Knight of Death" now reads "once Dassem Ultor, now Baudin."
