back on topic though, memmber how the seguleh second knew who and what the t'orrud cabal is, and how mammot was a high preist of D'rek and now all of D'reks clergy is kapput what about having cutter be the new mortal sword, destraint, shield anvil(something) for the God. Granted QoD casted her on eye on him and there's that undeniable connection with house shadow through cotillion. I dunno lotsa potential lotsa godly eyes on him somewhat similiar to what Paran went through and look how he ended up. poor guy ends up as MoD with tons of Gods looking at him with uneasy eyes

Also you forgot his most godly aspect of Opponn.

He does have potential. For some reason i imagine him to kill kalam.

That's if Kalam ain't already dead;) Anyways Cutter is gone until Toll the Hounds and I suspect he'll play a big role in the novel and maybe even Rallick Nom will come back.

yeah whatever happened to the noms' rallicks with vorcan in the finnest house in darujhistan and then there was that cousin of his from DHG, who helped Karsa. But yeah on oponn, there is that feeling That QoD is intrested in affliates of oponn, what with her having wanted Leoman to bring along Corrabb( can't remember if it's spelled this way or not) who's now Opies fav,
and Allowing Cutter, to view all the happenings while he was recovering from his brush with the Unbound. Intresting, No?

Not really, cutter should be in Reaper's Gale, since hes on the same ship with Mappo, Spite, and Pust. So he is heading for Lether aswell, and meaby he will play some roll in the infamous Icarium-Karsa-rhuald story
I have stolen princesses from sleeping barrow kings
I have burned the town of Trebon
I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life
I was expelled from the University at a younger age most people are allowed in
I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during the day
I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make minstrels cry
You may have heard of me....

Hopefully that role will be "innocent bystander."

Why hopefully? it would be nice to see him play a more active role, one that would get him killed, preferelably

The demonic pirate-terrorist-zombie-ninja-space-monkey ghosts from the moon's hellish nether-planes?

I'm not sure whether I wold like to see him killed. Despite how annoying he can seem at times, I'm sure that Steven Erikson could pull off a death that would have us upset/enraged/crying/calling for revenge.

Yeah, he could die at the same time as a good character.

The most dramatic way for him to die would be trying to save Apsalar, infront of her eyes, that would be rather nice

I think the tragedy in these books is twisting us all out of reason. Cutter wants to go back to Darujhistan but who's to say that he ever will, or that he wont take a longer route than desired?

And Tellos, I don't know D'rek's cult to have that sort of structure (Mortal Swords etc.). Demidrek, Septarch, High Septarch etc. yes, but D'rek's not a god(dess) of war. In any event, just being Mammot's nephew in no way makes Cutter a particularly suitable candidate. In fact, if Cutter's under anyone's patronage, it's Shadow. Cotillion's supposed to be keeping an eye on him.

And deathless... does not necessarly mean immortal, a lifespan of 200 years for a young looking mage(tatersail looks 30ish), easily suggests a lifespan of over 500 years for an old one, and to seguleh who live in a culture where magic isn't used, where they would presumably regularly kill off the older ones (note the extreme youth of mok and senu) they would certianly seem deathless... Or they could have sworn a vow like the avowed to oppose the return of the tyrant, which would also extend there life presumably...

Senu's fourteen, but what makes you think Mok is young? Kallor uses alchemy to extend his lifespan without being a mage; the Seguleh are so unbelievable that I almost think they're on some kind of alchemical acceleration. It's not a huge jump to believe the First (like the Second, Hood's Soldier) dates from pre-Tyrant Darujhistan, and Mok could be fairly old as well. In any case, I didn't get the impression that Mok was younger than, say, thirty-ish. Did I miss something?

The curse keeps Kallor alive. He uses the alchemies to remain young, as does Duiker. There's no evidence that alchemies in this world extend lifespan - instead they bring renewed youth and vigour, which is not quite the same thing.

Personally, I think it more likely that the upper-level Seguleh are ascended, and are therefore immortal.

The Seguleh are said to be descendants of a First Empire Legion. So that would imply that the tyrant is Dessimbelackis. As I still don't understand what exactly he did with the Deragoth/Hounds of Shadow/Shadowrealm itself, the one that became seven, seven falah'd, seven holy cities, and some more number mysticism, I don't know if he's still alive or able to come back.

'T'orrud! Yes, clever. Outrageous! Barukanal, Derudanith, Travalegrah, Mammoltenan? These names strike your soul, yes? I see it.'

I'm certain this must have been brought up already, but of those names mentioned by the Soldier, we've seen all but one: Travelegrah.

Now is it me, or is that too close to "Traveller" given how these archaic names are simply shortened when we encounter them in the series?

Of course it makes no sense for it to be the Traveller we encounter on Drift Availi. Mr Erikson messing with us do you think? Throwing us something for the crazy theories?
